BLOCK 93 — ITEMS, EQUIPMENT & RELICS: Tools (Core Categories & Environmental Variants)

Tools in Thalmaris are not simple instruments — they are survival mechanisms. Every tool is shaped by environmental hazards, faction craftsmanship, corruption, mutation, and relic resonance. Tools are forged from volcanic ashstone, Rift distortion glass, storm‑charged alloys, abyssal bone, subterranean resonance ore, and biological tissue. They are used for harvesting, exploration, crafting, stabilization, hazard suppression, relic handling, and survival.

This block establishes the core tool categories, their environmental variants, crafting origins, corruption profiles, durability systems, and faction associations. It sets the foundation for Blocks 94–100, which will expand into consumables, relic categories, relic lists, crafting materials, and faction‑specific gear.

Tools are divided into six primary environmental families, each with unique mechanics:

  • Volcanic Tools

  • Rift Tools

  • Storm Tools

  • Abyssal Tools

  • Subterranean Tools

  • Biological Tools

Each family contains multiple tool types shaped by the environment they were forged in.

TOOL OVERVIEW

Tools in Thalmaris are shaped by:

  • crafting materials

  • environmental hazards

  • faction techniques

  • corruption levels

  • relic resonance

  • magic disciplines

  • trauma systems

  • intoxicant effects

Tools are not static. They degrade, mutate, resonate, destabilize, and evolve based on world conditions.

TOOL CATEGORIES

Tools fall into seven core categories, each with environmental variants:

  • Harvesting Tools

  • Exploration Tools

  • Crafting Tools

  • Stabilization Tools

  • Detection Tools

  • Survival Tools

  • Relic‑Handling Tools

Each category interacts differently with hazards, corruption, and magic.

RARITY TIERS

Tools follow the same rarity tiers as all items:

Tier I — Common

Stable, low‑risk tools.

Tier II — Uncommon

Hazard‑linked tools.

Tier III — Rare

Faction‑crafted or multi‑material tools.

Tier IV — Epic

Relic‑fragment tools.

Tier V — Legendary

Full relic tools with instability and corruption risk.

DURABILITY SYSTEM

Durability ranges from 0 to 100.

Durability Loss Sources

  • hazard exposure

  • crafting strain

  • corruption

  • mutation

  • relic resonance

  • environmental collapse

Durability Effects

Low durability causes:

  • reduced effectiveness

  • instability

  • corruption vulnerability

  • breakage

  • environmental reaction

VOLCANIC TOOLS

Volcanic tools are forged from ashstone, magma glass, thermal ore, and pressure shards. They are heat‑resistant, heavy, and pressure‑reinforced.

Tool Types

  • Ashfall Pickaxe — volcanic harvesting

Corruption Profile

Volcanic corruption causes:

  • heat pulses

  • ash lung exposure

  • magma instability

RIFT TOOLS

Rift tools are forged from distortion shards, gravity cores, fracture glass, and temporal dust. They are unstable, lightweight, and reality‑warping.

Tool Types

  • Distortion Cutter — anomaly harvesting

  • Fracture Probe — dimensional scanning

  • Temporal Meter — flicker detection

  • Echo‑Rift Compass — distortion navigation

Environmental Interaction

Rift tools gain:

  • distortion resistance

  • gravity manipulation

  • fracture stability

But suffer:

  • storm instability

  • biological mutation risk

Faction Craftsmanship

  • Rift‑Marked Enclaves

  • Ashen Veil Consortium

Corruption Profile

Rift corruption causes:

  • hallucinations

  • gravity collapse

  • temporal flicker

STORM TOOLS

Storm tools are forged from lightning resin, thunderstone, windglass, and stormmetal. They are fast, conductive, and volatile.

Tool Types

  • Lightning Harvester — electrical extraction

  • Windglass Cutter — air‑shaped precision tool

  • Stormmetal Stabilizer — atmospheric control

  • Sky‑Route Beacon — storm navigation

Environmental Interaction

Storm tools gain:

  • lightning resistance

  • wind stability

  • thunder resonance

But suffer:

  • abyssal pressure collapse

  • subterranean resonance instability

Faction Craftsmanship

  • Storm‑Chain Authority

  • Horizon Seekers

Corruption Profile

Storm corruption causes:

  • electrical discharge

  • nerve instability

  • sonic distortion

ABYSSAL TOOLS

Abyssal tools are forged from leviathan bone, pressure pearls, abyssal resin, and trench metal. They are heavy, crushing, and pressure‑reinforced.

Tool Types

  • Bone Drill — pressure harvesting

  • Leviathan Scanner — song resonance detection
