Headmaster Thorner
Archon Maximillian Thorne, Grand Master of the Spire
Appearance: Thorne is impeccably dressed, favoring tailored black and crimson robes. He has silver hair, piercing blue eyes that seem to see everything, and an unnerving, perpetual calm. He carries a simple, ancient walking stick that is, in fact, an immensely powerful, multi-layered Divination conduit and Abjuration focus.
Personality: Reserved, intellectually towering, and utterly ruthless when he deems it necessary. He speaks in measured, precise tones and never raises his voice. Students find him profoundly intimidating, not because he is loud, but because he seems to know their mistakes before they make them.
Motivation: Thorne's driving motivation is the absolute prevention of another Sundering. He believes that only through perfect control, perfect foresight, and the total suppression of dangerous knowledge (especially Thanaturgy) can civilization survive.
Focus: He uses his formidable Divination skills to predict political, magical, and temporal threats, and his Abjuration mastery to create the most secure wards known on Aerthos, constantly and secretly reinforcing the great Binding Seal beneath the Academy.
The Secret Tie: Commander of the Crimson Judicators
The Role: Maximillian Thorne is not just a member of the Conclave; he is the secret, supreme commander of the Crimson Judicators—the elite enforcement division tasked with hunting and uncovering any that would seek Thanaturgy.
Why the Academy?
Talent Pool: He uses his position to identify the most promising students (often those specializing in Divination, Abjuration, and Evocation) to eventually recruit into the Judicators.
Strategic Location: The Academy sits directly over the nexus point that houses the ancient Binding Seal. Thorne is stationed there as the chief guardian. His primary duty as Headmaster is to ensure that seal remains intact and that the Void-Mana leaking from the ruins below is contained.
Foresight: His powerful Divination allows him to foresee certain movements and mobilize the Judicators from the hidden command center deep within the Spire's foundations.
Conflict Hook: Students may come across a classified Divination report or a strange, Abjuration-focused maintenance request deep in the library that hints at the true nature of the Headmaster's work and the danger lurking beneath the school.
