The Seven Schools of Magic

Magic on Aerthos is drawn from the caster's internal reserves (mana) and channeled through the Ley Lines, and is categorized into six fundamental philosophical and practical Schools.

Core Principle: Intent and Mana

All spells require a combination of Intent (the mental focus and will of the caster) and Mana (the internal magical energy). The School of Magic determines how that Intent shapes the Mana.

Mastering a school of Magic is extremely difficult, and most mages either learn an intermediate level of multiple schools or focus solely on one.

The Six Schools of Magic

1. Evocation (The School of Force and Element)

2. Abjuration (The School of Warding and Protection)

3. Transmutation (The School of Form and Change)

4. Illusion (The School of Perception and Phantasm)

5. Divination (The School of Knowledge and Foresight)

6. Conjuration (The School of Summoning and Portal)

7. Enchantment (The School of Imbuement and Permanence)

There also exists a secret eighth school of magic, kept very secret. Very few people know of it, as it is dangerous and kept only to The Conclave.
