Page 6- The Great Escape & The Royal Lie

The trap at the Royal Mint was perfect, but it failed to account for one thing: @Vesper Nyx was never more dangerous than when he was cornered. As the vault doors sealed and the "Inside Man" stepped into the light with a company of High-Reach Elite Guards, the Ghost didn't surrender. He triggered a contingency that turned the Mint’s own clockwork against itself.

The Clockwork Chaos

The Mint was built on a series of massive, rotating gears powered by the thermal vents of the grounded continent. @Vesper Nyx had spent months studying the harmonics of these machines.

  • The Harmonic Overload: Instead of fighting the guards, he jammed a reclaimed Arundel explosive into the "Master Governor" gear. The resulting vibration caused the entire facility to shudder and grind, throwing the elite guards off balance.

  • The Ghost’s Leap: In the ensuing darkness and mechanical screaming, @Vesper Nyx utilized a prototype grapple-line to launch himself into the main ventilation shaft. He didn't go for the exits—he went up, toward the steam-release valves on the roof.

The Flight Over the Cliffs

The City Guard had the streets blocked, but they didn't have the sky. @Vesper Nyx reached the rooftop just as the Mint's alarm bells began to toll across Kingston.

  • The Sunder-Cliffs Descent: Using a modified canvas cloak, he cast himself off the highest spire, catching the updrafts from the Sunder-Cliffs and gliding miles away from the city lights. He landed at a hidden cove, pushed a small skiff into the "Dead Currents," and vanished into the fog of the northern Peaks.

The Great Deception

When the smoke cleared and the Mint officials realized the Ghost had slipped through their fingers, panic set in. They could not admit that their "impenetrable" fortress had been breached and the most wanted man in the world had escaped.

  • The Fabricated Victory: The Royal Mint issued an emergency proclamation. They displayed a charred, unrecognizable body—recovered from the gear-works sabotage—and declared it to be @Vesper Nyx .

  • The Death of the Myth: They held a public celebration of his "execution," officially striking his name from the active bounty lists. By telling the world the Ghost was dead, they hoped to kill the spark of rebellion he had ignited in the slums.

The Silent Exile

While the High Reach toasted to their "victory," @Vesper Nyx was sailing into the cold isolation of the north. He knew the kingdom would lie to save face, and he used that lie to his advantage. For ten years, he allowed the world to believe he was a corpse, allowing his "Darker Side" to simmer in the frozen silence of the Peaks while he waited for his hair to turn white and his new identity to form.
