The Weaver

Description:

The Weaver is a semi-corporeal anomaly that seems to exist between dimensions, its presence tied directly to the influence of the Forlorn and the Apostle. Its body is composed of threads of black wires, each glimmering faintly with white sparks, like veins of otherworldly light. These threads extend through walls, floors, and ceilings, subtly reshaping the environment in ways that make navigation disorienting and unnerving.

The anomaly acts as a guardian and emissary of the Endless, preserving areas of devotion and punishing intruders who trespass in Forlorn territories.

  • Height: 5–7 meters humanoid form, but threads can span dozens of meters

  • Appearance: Skeletal humanoid made of black wires, faint white sparks coursing through its “veins”

  • Subtle glow: When near Forlorn sigils, its threads shimmer brighter, almost like light following the geometry of devotion

Behavior:

  1. Patrolling Mode:

    • Threads crawl along walls and ceilings, subtly probing the environment

    • Monitors for trespassers near Forlorn worship areas

    • Emits faint harmonic whispers in the voice of the Endless, heard only peripherally

  2. Defensive / Hunting Mode:

    • Threads lash out to bind, slice, or pull victims toward its central form

    • Can reshape hallways and rooms, creating looping corridors and impossible angles as if reality itself answers the call of the Endless

    • Whispers intensify, producing visions of the Endless for those caught in its influence

Abilities:

  1. Thread Manipulation:

    • Threads can sever, restrain, or crush objects and victims

    • They extend invisibly, often through walls or ceilings, making the anomaly’s reach impossible to predict

  2. Reality Bending:

    • Alters the geometry of nearby rooms, creating non-Euclidean loops and overlapping corridors

    • Players may walk in circles or end up back where they started

  3. Psychic Communion:

    • The Weaver subtly communicates the will of the Endless

    • Witnessing it can trigger obsessive thoughts or visions, compelling some victims to kneel, pray, or even attempt self-sacrifice

  4. Spatial Anchoring:

    • Threaded anchors can pin anomalies or other entities in place

    • Cultists can use the Weaver as a ritual tool, marking zones of influence

Encounter Mechanics:

  • Passive observers will notice threads shifting in impossible directions, whispers at the edge of hearing, and geometry subtly warping.

  • Direct intrusion triggers threads to lash out and attempt to capture or displace intruders.

  • Players may attempt to avoid its threads, hide, or move quickly—but the anomaly can follow them through the threads, phasing partially into new rooms.

Environmental Effects:

  • Hallways and chambers warp unpredictably

  • Light bends along the threads, creating flickering illusions of movement

  • Forlorn sigils on walls or floors resonate with the Weaver, strengthening its influence and making nearby threads more aggressive

Lore / Forlorn Connection:

  • The Weaver is an emissary of the Endless, deployed by Forlorn cultists as both protector and enforcer.

  • Areas under its influence are often used as ritual grounds, where survivors may see Forlorn members kneeling or chanting in devotion.

  • Cultists interpret its appearances as a sign of the Endless’ favor or displeasure, and some rituals involve leading trespassers into its threads as offerings.

Horror Element:

  • The anomaly embodies cosmic vigilance: it is less a predator than a sentinel of the Endless.

  • It warps reality to make intruders feel trapped, observed, and punished, instilling existential dread.

  • Unlike the Apostle, it doesn’t instantly kill—but survival often requires outsmarting reality itself while resisting psychic influence.
