The station’s profile is unmistakable—vast heat-shielded refinery spines radiate outward from a reinforced central hub, while enormous magnetic siphon arrays arc toward the star itself, visibly pulling solar plasma into containment streams. From a distance, the station appears half-lit at all times: one side bathed in blinding stellar light, the other illuminated by industrial glow and hazard beacons cutting through perpetual shadow.
Helios Reach does not feel clean.

Helios Reach’s primary role is the harvesting, refinement, and distribution of stellar hydrogen and related fusion-grade fuel products. By extracting fuel directly from the star rather than relying on distant gas giants or ice belts, the station dramatically shortens refueling routes and reduces the risk of long-haul fuel shortages across the Reach.

Despite its industrial nature, Helios Reach is not a free port. All traffic is logged, monitored, and regulated under Credence authority. That said, enforcement here is pragmatic rather than idealistic—if a ship can pay and won’t destabilize the station, it is usually allowed to dock.
Living conditions aboard Helios Reach are harsh but functional. Personnel are a mix of long-term technicians, rotating contract crews, Credence regulators, and transient spacers waiting on fuel cycles.
The station is in a constant state of low-grade emergency readiness. Heat spikes, magnetic fluctuations, and radiation storms are expected hazards rather than rare events. Every corridor carries emergency shutters. Every viewport is layered with polarized shielding. Every worker knows evacuation drills by heart.
There is a quiet, unspoken culture among the crew:
You don’t tempt the star.
Superstitions persist—lucky patches on pressure suits, ritual shutdown taps on control panels, and personal rules about which shifts to never volunteer for. Credence officially discourages this behavior. Unofficially, they tolerate it. Morale matters when the sun is always watching.
Credence Provisional Government oversight is absolute within Helios Reach’s operational envelope. Automated defense grids and station-mounted interceptor platforms are calibrated less for warfare and more for accident prevention—keeping ships from drifting, colliding, or being pulled into fatal orbits.
Weapons fire is strictly prohibited within the station’s exclusion radius. Violations are met with immediate interdiction and permanent docking bans. Repeat offenders rarely get a second warning.
The true deterrent, however, is environmental. A single miscalculation near Helios Reach can result in catastrophic system failure or stellar exposure. Even the most reckless captains understand that the star does not negotiate.

Colossal magnetic collectors extend outward toward the star, forming luminous arcs that pull stellar plasma into stabilized containment streams. During peak harvest cycles, the siphons glow brighter than the station itself, casting flickering solar light across nearby hulls.
Access to the array is restricted to authorized engineering crews. Even then, exposure time is tightly regulated. Accidents here are rare—but never survivable.
A reinforced docking and habitation ring wrapped in layered heat shielding and thermal dispersal fins. Most visiting ships dock here, protected from direct stellar exposure while still remaining close enough for rapid fuel transfer.
The Heatward Ring houses basic amenities, crew quarters, and tightly controlled trade bays. It is the closest thing Helios Reach has to a “civilian” zone, though the ever-present hum of cooling systems ensures no one forgets where they are.

From this tower, Credence officials monitor traffic flow, fuel quotas, and safety compliance. The Spire also serves as the final authority on docking disputes, emergency prioritization, and enforced evacuations.
It is rumored that the Spire’s deepest levels contain redundant command systems designed to jettison entire station segments if a catastrophic solar event occurs.
A permanently dim docking zone on the station’s far side, locked in near-constant shadow due to the star’s position. Shadowward Dock is reserved for long-haul freighters, damaged vessels, and extended maintenance stays.
While still under Credence control, this area has a reputation for quiet deals, hushed conversations, and crews who prefer not to be noticed. Nothing illegal is officially allowed here—but not everything is closely examined.
