The Floating Forest

Known to none except the Fae-Wyrm who slumber within, the Floating Forest is a remnant of the origins of this world. Long before the Grand Arena this world was the center of all magic. Near where the Grand Arena now stands was the origin of the Font of All-Magic. The creator, originator, and fuel that powers the magic across all realms connected to this one. Hidden in earthen tunnels within the Floating Forest are a few living tombs where a Fae-Wyrm rests, waiting for the end of things. Beyond ancient, the Floating Forest only has a small handful of these tombs.

The Font of All-Magic was hidden and held sacred by Fae-kind for untold eons. A power-shift happened and a civil-war between those who lived nearest the Font. Those who knew the danger of the Font of All-Magic restricted the use and limited those who could be exposed. The masses demanded that everyone be free to benefit from the Font. A clash that rocked the very core of the world.

In a final desperate plea the last few Wizards of this ancient age cast their spell on the Font of All-Magic, a deep prayer to the divines to move the Font to a place where it would not be abused or coveted. The Divines Answered.

The spellwork surrounded the Font of All-Magic and concentrated the power into a radiant seed. The eruption of the spell took the land that is now the Grand Scar and formed it around the seed, simultaneously sending the mass of land into the sky. The seed bloomed and grew into the Mana Tree. Over time a forest grew around the Mana Tree and held the airborne soil together as a massive floating island.

The Mana Tree, a singular living being that emanates and radiates the mana throughout the realms. No longer a font of magic where creatures can take advantage of the flowing waters. The tree decides who is worthy to grasp and wield mana. The forest evolved several peaceful creatures who live harmoniously in the high forest. If threatened the Mana Tree will infuse one of these creatures with mana and create a Mana Beast. Killing the Mana Beast will destroy the Mana Tree and the world's connection to magic. Without magic all portal travel and magically conjured water will dissipate from this world.

If the Mana Tree is destroyed the Mana Sword will lay at its heart. The Mana Sword gives the wielder the sole ability to use and cast spells. The wielder can cast any spell, known or unknown, as an action. Everyone within the Grand Arena will recognize the Mana Sword and it's wielder and connect it to the reason they are now stranded on a world with no known sources of water.
