Sirens of the tideshttps://play.fables.gg/worlds/019e48f3-3c7c-7df0-8499-9506c1d52797/lore/umberlee-versus-tide-sirens

Classification: Neutral Humanoids (Aquatic)
Core Concept: Deep-sea Dryads with the reproductive urgency of the dryad, the survival skills of coast-guards, and the romantic competence of a wet rock.

The All-Female Cycle

Tide Sirens are a single-gender race bound to the ocean’s tides much like Dryads are bound to their trees. They do not have males. To continue their bloodline, they must travel to the surface, find land-dwelling men, and reproduce.

  • The Offspring: The child is always a female Tide Siren.

  • The Fathers: Sirens do not kill their mates. In fact, they are fiercely protective of them. If a sailor treats a siren well, she will track his ship for years, clearing underwater hazards and fighting off predators to keep her "husband" safe.

The "What is a Man?" Problem

Because the village is completely isolated from land culture, Sirens learn about men entirely through ancient, water-damaged romance novels salvaged from shipwrecks, or heavily exaggerated stories told by the village Elders.

As a result, they suffer from hilarious misconceptions:

  • Anatomical Confusion: They often mistake male Dwarven beards for fuzzy parasites and try to "save" the Dwarf by aggressively shaving or plucking it.

  • Species Confusion: They struggle to differentiate between a human man, an orc, a male Tabaxi, or a Warforged. If it walks on two legs and doesn't wear a dress, a Siren will confidently assume, "Ah, yes. A prime human male specimen."

  • Gender Roles: They assume land men are fragile, delicate creatures who need to be coddled, protected from the sun, and fed constant gifts of raw seafood
