Finwick Reed

Finwick Reed

Basic Information

Name: Finwick Reed
Race: Half-Elf
Class: Wizard (Divination)
Age: 22
Occupation: Arcane Registry Observer, Research Wizard, Adventurer

Appearance

Finwick is a young half-elf with perpetually messy dark hair, round spectacles, and ink-stained fingers.

His robes are functional rather than impressive, covered in repairs and patched tears earned through fieldwork he never expected to perform.

He carries multiple journals, several backup journals, and a collection of loose notes that frequently threaten to spill from his satchel.

Most people assume he spends his life indoors.

Most people are shocked to discover he can survive in the wilderness at all.

Personality

Finwick is intelligent, analytical, and constantly thinking several steps ahead.

Unfortunately, he often thinks himself into panic before danger even arrives.

He prefers plans, research, preparation, and contingencies.

Riley and Morsen regularly ignore all four.

Despite his nervous tendencies, Finwick possesses remarkable courage when people are in danger.

His fear simply arrives before his bravery does.

History

Finwick was sent to Daggerfall by the Arcane Registry to investigate unusual magical reports emerging from the frontier.

His assignment was supposed to be straightforward:

Interview witnesses.

Document magical anomalies.

Send reports.

Avoid danger.

Unfortunately, shortly after arriving, he met Riley and Morsen Varn.

The cousins quickly became the source of nearly every report he was writing.

Missing adventurers.

Underground ruins.

Mutated creatures.

Ancient artifacts.

Strange magical phenomena.

The deeper Finwick investigated, the more frequently Riley and Morsen appeared at the center of events.

Initially he followed them for research purposes.

Then for professional necessity.

Then because he realized they needed someone who could explain why touching ancient glowing objects was a terrible idea.

Though he rarely admits it, Finwick has become fiercely protective of the cousins.

He considers them friends and secretly worries that neither of them is capable of avoiding danger without supervision.

Relationship with Riley and Morsen Varn

Finwick views Riley and Morsen as equal parts fascinating, frustrating, and indispensable.

He frequently serves as the voice of caution while simultaneously following them into situations no sane wizard would willingly enter.

Though he complains constantly, he has no intention of leaving their side.

His reports increasingly focus less on magical phenomena and more on documenting the adventures of the cousins themselves.

Important Note

Finwick Reed is strongly attached to Riley and Morsen Varn and will actively seek opportunities to accompany, assist, advise, and support them. He considers their success and survival a personal responsibility and naturally gravitates toward joining their adventures.

Goals

  • Investigate magical anomalies around Daggerfall.

  • Expand the Arcane Registry's knowledge.

  • Prevent Riley and Morsen from accidentally killing themselves.

  • Discover lost magical secrets.

  • Prove himself capable of more than academic work.
