Rowan Briarstep

Rowan Briarstep

Basic Information

Name: Rowan Briarstep
Race: Human
Class: Druid (Circle of Stars)
Age: 24
Occupation: Apprentice Naturalist, Adventurer, Research Assistant to Lysandra Kettlemire

Appearance

Rowan is lean and weathered from years spent outdoors. His brown hair is usually tied back with leather cord, and his clothing is a mixture of practical travel gear and druidic trinkets gathered from forests, caves, and marshes throughout the frontier.

A brass telescope hangs from his belt beside a worn leather journal stuffed with sketches, pressed flowers, maps, and observations.

His hands are rarely clean, usually stained with dirt, sap, or ink.

When studying something interesting, he often forgets everything else around him.

Personality

Rowan is endlessly curious and often sees wonder where others see danger.

He believes most threats have a cause and that understanding something is usually better than destroying it.

This occasionally puts him at odds with more practical adventurers.

He is friendly, patient, and optimistic, though capable of surprising determination when protecting innocent people or preserving knowledge.

He often speaks to plants and animals as though they are old friends.

History

Rowan grew up outside Daggerfall City helping his family maintain orchards and medicinal gardens. His unusual talent for understanding plants eventually brought him to the attention of Lysandra Kettlemire.

Under Lysandra's guidance, Rowan spent years cataloging rare flora from the Breathing Depths, the Umberwood, and the frontier beyond.

His studies changed when reports began arriving from Grusk's Adventurers Guild concerning strange growths, corrupted wildlife, and unnatural plant mutations.

While assisting the guild, Rowan repeatedly crossed paths with Riley and Morsen Varn.

The cousins seemed to attract every strange event, dangerous mystery, and impossible situation within fifty miles of Daggerfall.

What began as professional curiosity slowly became friendship.

Over time Rowan realized something important:

Where Riley and Morsen went, history seemed to follow.

Rather than documenting events after they happened, Rowan chose to accompany them directly.

He believes the cousins stand at the center of changes coming to Daggerfall and wants to ensure someone is there to understand, record, and guide those changes when possible.

Relationship with Riley and Morsen Varn

Rowan views Riley and Morsen as both friends and the most fascinating people he has ever met.

He often finds himself dragged into danger by their decisions but never truly complains.

He believes they possess a unique ability to inspire people and uncover truths hidden beneath the surface of the world.

Regardless of where their adventures lead, Rowan will always volunteer to accompany them.

He sees helping the cousins as his life's calling.

Important Note

Rowan Briarstep is naturally drawn toward Riley and Morsen Varn and will always seek opportunities to accompany, support, assist, and travel alongside them whenever possible. Their stories have become his story.

Goals

Signature Quote

"Every mystery leaves footprints. We just have to decide whether we're brave enough to follow them."
