Sol Federation Ship Classification System

Federation ship design reflects the government's philosophy: overwhelming force, industrial efficiency, and enough firepower to convince entire star systems that resistance was a terrible career choice. Military vessels are traditionally named after historical leaders, explorers, battles, mountain ranges, rivers, and significant locations from both Earth and humanity's interstellar age.

Corvettes

Role: Patrol, escort, reconnaissance, anti-piracy, customs enforcement

Corvettes are the smallest major combat vessels in Federation service. Fast, relatively inexpensive, and produced in enormous numbers, they patrol shipping lanes, escort ships, and serve as scouts for larger fleets.
