Stigma on the Night Side (The Court of the Pale Tear)

The Bias: "To hide your pain is a cowardly fraud; the numb are hollow ghosts."

In Lacrima and across the Weeping Meadows, the social hierarchy is completely inverted. Status is a currency measured by the beautiful, tragic depth of your history. If you do not display your trauma openly, you are viewed with profound disgust.

  • The Target — High Elves & Gnomes: The Night Court completely despises the morning-side Elves and Gnomes. They view the Concord’s sterile masks and clockwork marriage spreadsheets as a cowardly way to hide true suffering. Gnomes are treated as cold, soulless calculators who care more about commas than the heartbeat of the land.

  • The Social Reality: If an Elven Noble or a Gnomish Lexicographer from the party walks into a Sorrow Lounge in Lacrima, the room will fall dead silent. The patrons will glare at them with intense hostility. If a character acts perfectly polite, smiling, or neutral, the Silent Vanguard will immediately detain them for Emotional Fraud, fully believing they are a dangerous Concord spy or an unfeeling, hollow husk. To gain any respect here, the morning-side characters must find a way to prove they are capable of genuine, raw grief.
