Halflings (Grave-Halflings): Because their floating boardwalks will physically sink into the mud if a family experiences prolonged despair, choosing a partner is a matter of public safety. Halflings practice The Joy Alliance. If a gloomy, brooding halfling falls in love, the community will aggressively encourage them to marry a hyper-cheerful Gnome or a loud, expressive partner to keep their house afloat. Their weddings are rowdy, multi-day street festivals where the couple trades an absurdity (like their ability to whistle) to pay for the town's starlight-moonshine.
Half-Elves: Half-Elves are the diplomats of the border. Possessing the emotional depth of mortals but the extended lifespan of Elves, they often find themselves acting as emotional anchors in relationships. They are highly sought after by both the high courts and the outcasts because their presence stabilizes volatile local geography.
