Nyxumbra - Military
Nyxumbra fields the most fear-drenched and necromantically augmented military in the Shattered Veil, where every soldier is a potential vessel for the Lich-Queen’s will and every battlefield becomes a harvest of souls. Numbers are bolstered by undead legions, and living troops specialize in terror tactics, making them the archipelago’s unrivaled nightmare enforcers and Umbral Nexus guardians.
Ground Forces: 15,000–20,000 (living) + 40,000–60,000 undead
Organized into Shadow Covens and Bone Legions stratified by necromantic potency; slaves and lesser undead serve as expendable screens. Gloomspire Reapers (death-knights) in obsidian plate; Depthstark Wraiths: (hexblades and necromancers); Carnathon Thralls: Undead fighters and skeletal archers.
Air Forces: 50–100 Flying Undead Wings
Elite necromantically animated aerial constructs raised from Veilbreak-tainted wyverns, manticores, and giant bats, bound by soul-shards extracted at the Umbral Nexus. Each wing is directed by a masked death-pilot and carries containment runes to prevent spectral backlash.
Navy: 120 Small, 40 Medium, 10 Large Vessels
Nyxumbra’s fleet is built for silent predation and necromantic siege—black-hulled vessels of petrified coral and ghost-rigged sails that vanish into mist. Every ship includes a Lich-Queen emissary.
Small Vessels (3-20 Crew) Stalker Class Cutter
A narrow, single-mast cutter with shadow-meld hulls and silent oars. Crewed by 6–12 human slavers and drow assassins; used for slave raids, nexus patrols, and nighttime boarding.
Medium Vessels (20-50 Crew) Harvester Class Caravel
A broad caravel with bone-cage decks and soul-siphon catapults. Carries 25–40 crew and undead laborers and fighters as well as several necromancers; forms necrotic fog banks around convoys and reanimates drowned crews as instant reinforcements.
Large Vessels (100-200 Crew) Necropolis Class Galleon
A colossal spell-galleon with tiered ossuary towers and Umbral portal gates. Crewed by 130–180, including Lich-Queen proxies and ghost crews. Anchors floating graveyards, deploys mass undead waves, and serves as mobile nexus research stations for soul-binding experiments.
