### THE SOVEREIGN CROWN

### LORE BOOK 2 — HOUSE VALERIUS: THE FAE KINGDOM

### KINGDOM OVERVIEW

House Valerius rules the Fae Kingdom, an ancient realm renowned for its enchanting forests, magnificent architecture, magical gardens and sophisticated aristocracy.

At first glance, Valerius appears almost perfect. Its landscapes are breathtaking, its palaces are elegant, and its nobles are celebrated for their beauty and refinement. However, beneath this enchanting appearance exists a society built upon influence, manipulation, secrets and carefully maintained reputations.

The Fae believe that knowledge is power, appearances are weapons, and emotional weakness can be exploited.

Their kingdom is ruled by King Aurelius Valerius and Queen Seraphina Valerius. Their son, Prince Lucien Valerius, is the royal heir.

### HISTORY OF HOUSE VALERIUS

House Valerius has ruled the Fae Kingdom for generations. Its authority was established through ancient bloodline traditions, magical influence and the consolidation of powerful Fae territories.

Throughout its history, the kingdom developed a reputation for diplomacy, intelligence and political manipulation. Rather than relying exclusively on military strength, its rulers frequently use negotiations, information and strategic alliances to achieve their ambitions.

Its forests became protected territories, magical settlements developed around enchanted groves, and magnificent royal estates symbolised the prosperity of the bloodline.

The kingdom's official historical records celebrate its rulers, achievements and traditions. However, certain historical accounts remain incomplete. Some old documents are inaccessible, and particular subjects are rarely discussed by members of the royal court.

### TERRITORY AND ENVIRONMENT

The Fae Kingdom is dominated by enormous enchanted forests, ancient trees, magical rivers, flowering meadows and mysterious woodland territories.

Its environment is beautiful but dangerous. Poisonous plants, enchanted vegetation and supernatural creatures inhabit areas beyond the safety of settlements.

The forests are filled with unusual flowers, glowing plants, ancient roots and magical growths. Some plants possess healing properties, while others can cause hallucinations, paralysis or death.

Fae settlements are traditionally constructed in harmony with their surroundings. Buildings incorporate living wood, pale stone, enchanted glass and natural vegetation.

### ELARION PALACE

Elarion Palace is the royal residence of House Valerius and the political centre of the Fae Kingdom.

Its architecture combines white marble, silver towers, enchanted glass and delicate golden decorations. Glowing flowers, ancient trees and climbing vines surround its exterior, creating an extraordinary appearance.

### THORNVEIL VILLAGE

Thornveil is an important settlement within the Fae Kingdom, overseen by Elder Elaris Moonwhisper.

The village is surrounded by enchanted woodland and features pale-stone buildings, living-wood cottages, flowering gardens and winding forest pathways.

Its inhabitants include merchants, herbalists, craftsmen, healers and ordinary Fae citizens.

Thornveil provides essential supplies, services and resources to the surrounding population.

### CULTURE AND TRADITIONS

Fae society places considerable importance on beauty, etiquette, intelligence, magical ability and social reputation.

Noble families maintain elaborate traditions and compete for political influence. Formal gatherings, elaborate clothing, magical entertainment and aristocratic celebrations are important parts of their culture.

The Fae are particularly skilled at deception and psychological manipulation. They often prefer subtle influence over direct confrontation.

Promises and agreements are treated seriously, although their wording can be manipulated. A seemingly harmless bargain may contain consequences that are not immediately apparent.

Romantic relationships among the nobility can become political arrangements. Secret affairs, jealousy, possessiveness and forbidden relationships can threaten reputations and family alliances.

### MAGIC AND ABILITIES

Fae possess supernatural abilities associated with their ancient bloodline.

Their known magical disciplines include:

* Illusion Magic: Creating convincing visual and sensory deceptions.

* Emotional Manipulation: Influencing or disturbing the emotions of others.

* Botanical Magic: Controlling plants, roots, flowers and poisonous vegetation.

* Nature Manipulation: Interacting with and influencing their enchanted surroundings.

Their abilities vary according to individual talent, magical development and experience.

### MONSTERS OF THE FAE KINGDOM

BRIARWRAITH

* Rank: Medium.

* Type: Fey.

* Alignment: Chaotic Evil.

* Size: Large.

Briarwraiths are dangerous supernatural predators found in deep enchanted forests, overgrown ruins and cursed groves.

They resemble twisted humanoids formed from pale bark, black thorns, tangled roots and flowering vines. Their violet flower-like eyes and beautiful poisonous blossoms disguise their predatory nature.

They use illusions to lure travellers away from safe paths before attacking. Their abilities include thorn-covered claws, poisonous pollen, entangling vines and deceptive illusions.

Dangerous locations: Deep enchanted forests, abandoned woodland settlements, overgrown ruins and isolated magical groves.

Thornveil and Elarion Palace should remain protected from natural Briarwraith spawns.

### ROLE IN THE WORLD

House Valerius plays an important diplomatic and political role among the four kingdoms.

Its magical knowledge, botanical resources and expertise in manipulation make it valuable in international negotiations.

The Fae are capable diplomats, information gatherers and political strategists. Their influence often extends beyond their borders through trade agreements, alliances and personal relationships.

However, their political ambitions frequently conflict with those of the other royal houses.

The upcoming Sovereign tournament presents an opportunity for House Valerius to strengthen its influence over the future ruler of the four kingdoms.

Prince Lucien's success could determine the future standing of his entire bloodline.

### SECRETS OF HOUSE VALERIUS

The Fae Kingdom is not as innocent as its beautiful appearance suggests.

Certain areas of its oldest forests are deliberately avoided, even by experienced inhabitants.

Some historical records contain references to events that no longer appear in official royal histories. Certain noble families become unusually uncomfortable when particular names are mentioned.

There are also rumours surrounding the kingdom's oldest traditions, although few individuals are willing to investigate them openly.

Whether these rumours are superstition, political deception or something far more disturbing remains unknown.

The greatest secrets of House Valerius are protected by the very people who claim to preserve its beauty.

### THE FUTURE OF HOUSE VALERIUS

With the Sovereign tournament approaching, House Valerius must protect its reputation, maintain its alliances and secure influence over the succession.

Prince Lucien is not merely competing for a crown. His decisions, relationships and actions may determine whether his family remains powerful or loses its position among the world's greatest royal houses.

In the Fae Kingdom, beauty can conceal danger, affection can become manipulation, and the truth is often the most carefully guarded possession of all.

Within House Valerius, never assume that what you see is what truly exists.
