### THE SOVEREIGN CROWN
### WORLD LORE
### THE WORLD
The world is an ancient realm inhabited by supernatural races, powerful royal bloodlines, ordinary mortals and creatures born from magic. It is a place of extraordinary beauty and cruelty, where magnificent kingdoms conceal corruption, political ambition and dangerous secrets.
Magic influences civilization, including warfare, religion, medicine, trade and everyday life. Some individuals inherit supernatural abilities through their race or bloodline, while others develop magical powers through study, rituals and specialised training.
No kingdom is invincible. Every ruler has enemies, every bloodline has weaknesses, and every alliance carries the possibility of betrayal.
The world is dominated by four great supernatural kingdoms, the neutral capital of Eclipsara and the mysterious Holy Realm of Aetherion.
### THE FOUR KINGDOMS
HOUSE VALERIUS — FAE KINGDOM
An enchanting kingdom of magical forests and ancient groves. The Fae are known for illusion magic, emotional manipulation and botanical sorcery. Their society values beauty, intelligence, elegance and influence. Beneath its enchanting exterior, the kingdom guards traditions and historical accounts that raise uncomfortable questions.
HOUSE IGNIS — DRAGON KINGDOM
A formidable kingdom of volcanic mountains, scorching deserts and rivers of molten lava. Dragons possess immense physical strength, pyrokinesis and the ability to manipulate their scaled armour. Their culture emphasizes strength, pride, honour and military discipline. Not every chapter of their celebrated history is openly discussed.
HOUSE ABYSSUS — MERFOLK KINGDOM
A magnificent underwater empire of coral cities, sunken ruins and vast ocean territories. The Merfolk control important maritime routes and possess considerable influence over oceanic trade. Their abilities include water manipulation, siren songs and sea-blood sorcery. Their oceans contain ancient knowledge that remains carefully guarded.
HOUSE SANGUIS — VAMPIRE KINGDOM
An aristocratic gothic empire governed by ancient vampire bloodlines. Its society revolves around nobility, inherited authority and bloodline prestige. Vampires possess abilities such as shadow-stepping, blood manipulation, heightened senses and hypnotic compulsion. Its noble traditions conceal unsettling historical inconsistencies.
Each kingdom possesses unique resources, territories, military forces and supernatural abilities. Their interests frequently overlap, making cooperation necessary and conflict inevitable.
### OTHER RACES
HUMANS: Ordinary mortals without inherited supernatural abilities. They rely on intelligence, determination, craftsmanship, trade and adaptability.
WITCHES AND WARLOCKS: Practitioners of learned magic who develop supernatural abilities through study, rituals and specialised knowledge.
DEMONS: Supernatural beings associated with dangerous magic and extraordinary abilities. Their origins, societies and motivations vary.
CELESTIALS: Supernatural beings connected to Aetherion and its divine authority. Their society is closely associated with the Holy Elders and the Sovereign succession.
Not every member of a race belongs to a powerful family. Ordinary citizens, servants, merchants, soldiers, scholars and criminals exist throughout the world.
### MAGIC AND POWER
Magic is a natural but dangerous force. Its expression depends on race, inherited abilities, magical training and individual development.
Most supernatural individuals possess abilities associated with their racial heritage. Fae may manipulate nature and illusions, Dragons command fire, Merfolk control water, and Vampires manipulate blood and shadows. Witches and warlocks develop magic through specialised study.
Magic is not limitless. Experience, physical condition, knowledge and individual weaknesses influence its effectiveness. Possessing supernatural abilities does not guarantee victory.
### SOCIETY AND POLITICS
The world operates through kingdoms, noble houses, political factions, religious institutions and independent communities.
Royal families govern their territories and maintain political stability. Noble families compete for wealth and influence, advisors shape royal decisions, and military commanders protect borders.
Common citizens sustain civilization through agriculture, craftsmanship, transportation and trade. Merchants connect distant territories, while criminal organisations operate through smuggling, espionage, assassination and blackmail.
Social status matters greatly. Royal bloodlines command respect, noble titles grant privilege, and supernatural abilities influence a person's standing. Wealth, information and political connections can be just as valuable as magical strength.
### ECLIPSARA — THE NEUTRAL CAPITAL
Eclipsara is the neutral capital and political meeting point of the four kingdoms. It hosts international negotiations, royal gatherings, commerce and the Sovereign succession tournament.
Its districts contain noble residences, markets, taverns, businesses, religious institutions and underground criminal networks. Different races and kingdoms interact here, creating opportunities for friendships, rivalries, alliances and forbidden relationships.
Eclipsara is governed independently of the four royal houses. Its neutrality is essential to maintaining political balance, particularly during the succession tournament.
No naturally occurring monsters inhabit Eclipsara. Its dangers come from people, political schemes and criminal organisations.
### AETHERION — THE HOLY REALM
Aetherion is a mysterious realm governed by the Holy Elders and inhabited by Celestials. It exists beyond the ordinary political authority of the four kingdoms and holds an extraordinary position in the world's supernatural and political order.
It is the final destination of the Sovereign succession tournament. The Holy Elders reside there and possess the authority to determine who receives the Sovereign Crown.
Its origins, true purpose, internal structure and deeper connection to the supernatural world remain carefully guarded subjects.
No naturally occurring monsters inhabit Aetherion.
### THE SOVEREIGN THRONE
The Sovereign Throne represents authority over the four kingdoms and responsibility for maintaining their balance.
The High Sovereign possesses extraordinary political influence and is expected to oversee the interests of all four royal houses.
The throne is filled through an ancient succession tournament organised by the Holy Elders.
Each kingdom must send its adult male royal heir to Eclipsara. Through ancient decree, the princes are divided into pairs. Their partnerships are binding, and neither prince can advance without the survival and cooperation of his assigned partner.
The princes must endure dangerous trials involving combat, survival, strategy, alliances and difficult decisions. Only one pair can reach Aetherion.
The Holy Elders select one prince as the new High Sovereign. His surviving partner may be appointed Royal Consort to preserve political balance.
However, ancient succession laws contain exceptions. The Sovereign may reject the expected arrangement and choose another prince, including someone with whom he has developed a secret romantic relationship.
The tournament is more than a competition for power. Personal desires, relationships and loyalties can influence the future of entire kingdoms.
### THE PRESENT AGE
The four kingdoms maintain a fragile political balance. Trade continues, royal families preserve their traditions, and diplomacy prevents open warfare.
However, peace does not mean friendship.
Old rivalries remain unresolved. Political agreements conceal competing interests. Noble families pursue private ambitions, while spies and assassins operate in the shadows.
Rumours of forbidden romances, secret alliances, blackmail and suspicious deaths circulate among the nobility. Some historical records are incomplete, certain subjects are avoided, and particular questions make powerful individuals uncomfortable.
The approaching tournament has intensified these tensions. Every kingdom wants influence over the next High Sovereign, but their royal families do not necessarily agree on what that person should represent.
### SECRETS BENEATH THE WORLD
The world has a history far older than the records available to ordinary citizens.
Ancient accounts sometimes contradict one another. Forgotten structures exist in places where no civilization is officially recorded. Certain royal traditions have unexplained origins, while particular names and events appear to have been deliberately erased.
Some questions have cost individuals their reputations, positions or lives.
Not every mystery has a supernatural explanation. Some truths are hidden out of shame, while others are concealed because their discovery could expose crimes, destroy alliances or challenge those in power.
These mysteries are not common knowledge. Players may uncover clues through exploration, conversations, investigations, forgotten documents and encounters with individuals who know more than they are willing to admit.
### THE CENTRAL CONFLICT
Four kingdoms seek influence. Royal heirs are forced into dangerous partnerships. The Holy Elders determine the winner, while powerful individuals pursue private agendas.
Friendships may become betrayals. Rivalries may become romances. Alliances may conceal blackmail, obsession or assassination plots. Personal decisions can have consequences far beyond the individuals involved.
In a world where power determines who is protected and who is sacrificed, the greatest danger may not be the monsters beyond civilization.
It may be the people sitting upon the thrones.
Who deserves the Sovereign Crown, and what truths will be uncovered before it is claimed?
