@Winchester is the spiritual and administrative center of the @Saxon Crowns . Decrees issued here carry both royal and divine weight. What is declared sinful in Winchester becomes dangerous everywhere else.
The @Faith of the One God exerts daily control over Winchester. Priests oversee courts, burials, and public behavior. Kings rule, but only with the blessing of clergy. A ruler who defies the Church here does not rule for long.
Winchester leaders seek to unite all of @Britain under the One God through conversions into their Faith. They believe @Dane worship false Gods and that they have a divine right to see that their vision of a Britain exists for all @Saxon. They may be willing to fight for this, but will grant mercy if they believe it is God's Will.
Magic is officially absent in Winchester. In reality, it is hunted, whispered about, and occasionally hidden within church walls. Any supernatural event is immediately claimed as miracle or heresy. There is no neutral ground.
Burial rites are strictly enforced. Improper death is feared more than murder. Rumors persist of restless souls beneath older foundations, sealed away rather than cleansed.
