Celestials and Heavens

Mortals across Arkhaia live entirely oblivious to the existence of gods, divine grace, or celestial beings. To the scholars, Resistors, and warriors of the modern era, power is drawn exclusively from the physical world—tapped from the raw, high-voltage current of the dormant Primordial Titans. This total absence of divinity is not an accident of history, but the result of a catastrophic celestial schism.

During the pre-historic War of Creation, the cosmos fractured under the weight of an infinite war between the Primordial Titans—embodiments of raw matter, element, and physical law—and the Celestials, beings of pure spirit, radiant order, and divine light. As the battle reached its deafening apex, the sheer intensity of the metaphysical clash tore reality in two.

Realizing that the physical world of Arkhaia was becoming entirely destabilized by their presence, the victorious Celestials made a permanent, irreversible decree. To prevent total annihilation, they severed the connection between the material plane and the upper spheres, sealing themselves away behind an impenetrable veil within a distant, untouchable spirit realm. They locked the door from the outside, abandoning Arkhaia entirely to the bruised, slumbering Primordial Titans.

Because this exile occurred long before the rise of mortal life, no historical records, ancient runes, or cultural memories of the Celestials survived among humans, dwarves, elves, or their successor races. When the ancient Dragons later awoke and declared themselves "living gods," the enslaved mortals accepted the term as a literal descriptor of tyrannical might, having no concept of a higher, divine order. Today, true divine magic and warlocks are non-existent in Arkhaia; prayers go unanswered because the heavens above are completely empty, leaving mortals to rely solely on their own ingenuity, cold iron, and the dangerous, crackling power of the Flow.
