Dragonfolk

Overview & Origin

Arising during the Age of Scales from the forced and chosen intermingling of ancient dragons and human captives, the Dragonfolk are now the single most populace race in Arkhaia. Bearing scales, reptilian eyes, and powerful builds, they carry the literal legacy of the realm’s former rulers in their veins—making them living remnants of an empire that once spanned the world.

Physicality & Traits

Elemental Markings: Their thick, iridescent scales reflect their dragon heritage (Fire, Water, Earth, or Wind), granting them natural resilience against specific elemental forces.

Primal Breath: Every Dragonfolk retains a faint vestige of their ancestor's power, capable of venting raw elemental energy in short, devastating bursts.

Physical Presence: Standing taller and broader than standard humans, they possess natural physical strength, clawed hands, and intimidating, reptilian features.

Culture & Place in Society

The Stigma of the Past: Because they are descendants of the ancient tyrants, Dragonfolk faced severe oppression immediately following the Mind-Rend Ritual. Over generations, however, their massive population and raw utility allowed them to integrate fully into every level of society.

The Irony of the Fall: Most Dragonfolk hold no love for the Feral Dragons that now roam the wilderness. They view these mindless elemental beasts as a tragic humiliation of their bloodline—a constant reminder of what their majestic ancestors were reduced to.

Dominant Force: Today, Dragonfolk form the muscle, backbone, and leadership of the surface city-states. They serve as elite military commanders, tireless frontline dragon-hunters, and powerful politicians, fiercely defending humanoids against both the feral beasts above and the Nyctari threat below.
