Climate and Geography
Flint Reef is a minor island city-state perched upon a jagged, wave-lashed rock outcropping off the coast of Salt-Gallows, claimed and ruled by the half-orc pirate captain Thrum Sea-Reaver. The climate is damp, salty, and relentlessly battered by coastal gales, characterized by heavy sea spray and a thick, humid maritime fog that clings to the stone.
The Weather: Stormy and unpredictable, featuring howling offshore winds, sudden squalls, and relentless sea mist that blankets the island in grey shadows.
The Environment: A rugged, heavily fortified rock fortress crowded with stacked wooden shacks, drying racks, and massive guano-harvesting vats. The island serves as a vital agricultural hub for the region, where Thrum and his pirate crew collect seabird guano to ship down into deep cave networks as high-grade fertilizer for growing hardy Underway mushrooms and brewing potent alcohol. Functioning as a minor, subordinate city-state, Flint Reef is forced to constantly pay heavy protection taxes to the wealthy elite merchant guilds and dominant pirate syndicates of nearby Salt-Gallows just to maintain its precarious independence.
