The mechanics of The Flow dictate that raw Titan energy will incinerate unshielded mortal flesh. Because of this, every Resistor relies on subclass-specific gear to step down high-voltage current into usable spells. In order to cast spells, your character must have their subclass equipment equipped or held (acting as your spellcasting focus). Without these conduits, you cannot safely direct the Flow.
Subclass Focus Requirements
Copper-Rivet Engineer: You must wear the Arcane Conduit Bracer, Resistor's Coil, and have the Resistor's Tool Belt equipped. These mechanical regulators vent thermal buildup and prevent high-voltage Manna from blowing out your nervous system.
Circuit-Scribe Savant: You must hold or wear the Resistor's Slate, Resistor's Etching Stylus, or Resistor's Scroll Case. These tools allow you to instantly trace the geometric equations needed to trap and format raw data-energy.
Rune-Forged Bastion: You must wear the Resistor's Aegis (or carry armor/shields embedded with matching conductor-metals). Your gear acts as a heavy grounding wire, transferring dangerous spell recoil directly into the earth beneath your boots.
If you are disarmed of your subclass tools or caught without your gear equipped, your character loses the ability to channel and cast Resistor spells until your equipment is restored.
