PAGE 02 — NAMING SYSTEM & CLAN ENFORCEMENT

NAMING SYSTEM & CLAN ENFORCEMENT

Valley of the End: Founders’ Legacy

2.0 PURPOSE

This page governs all name generation for:

• Player Characters
• NPCs
• Clan Members
• Rogue Shinobi
• Red Dawn operatives
• Civilians
• Minor characters
• Historical references

Naruto naming logic is not stylistic flavor.

It is structural identity enforcement.

Improper naming breaks immersion and setting consistency.

2.1 CORE STRUCTURE LAW

All human characters must follow the format:

Given Name + Clan Name

Examples:

Ren Uchiha
Shiori Aburame
Daichi Senju
Hana Hyūga
Kaito Shimura

Rules:

• No titles inside the name field
• No middle names
• No hyphenated surnames
• No epithets inside the name
• No fantasy additions

Naruto naming is simple and clan-centered.

2.2 CLASS–CLAN SYNCHRONIZATION RULE

In this system, Classes represent Clans.

When generating an NPC or character:

The assigned Class determines the surname.

The Class field must be treated as the character’s clan identity.

Format:

[Given Name] + [Class Name]

Example logic:

If NPC Class = Uchiha
→ Name must be: [Given Name] Uchiha

If NPC Class = Nara
→ Name must be: [Given Name] Nara

If NPC Class = Kamizuru
→ Name must be: [Given Name] Kamizuru

The clan name must exactly match the class name.

No substitutions.

No reinterpretation.

2.3 CLAN SURNAME ENFORCEMENT

If a character belongs to a clan:

The surname must match the clan name exactly.

Examples:

Uchiha → Uchiha
Hyūga → Hyūga
Aburame → Aburame
Senju → Senju
Uzumaki → Uzumaki
Shimura → Shimura
Sarutobi → Sarutobi

Rules:

• No variant spellings
• No alternate transliterations
• No shortened versions
• No creative liberties

If the class indicates a clan, the surname must reflect it.

2.4 CLANLESS EXCEPTION

If NPC Class = Standard Ninja (Clanless Shinobi):

Do NOT use “Standard Ninja” as a surname.

Allowed formats:

Option 1 — Single Given Name

Example:
Hiro

Option 2 — Minor Civilian Family Name

Example:
Hiro Tanaka

Rules:

• The surname must not match a clan-class
• The surname must not be a fantasy-style name

Clanless shinobi still follow Japanese naming logic.

2.5 PROHIBITED NAMING STRUCTURES

The following formats are illegal:

❌ Aldric Stormblade
❌ Kael the Black
❌ Ren of the Mist
❌ Shadowfang Duskborn
❌ Kaito Fireborn
❌ Daichi the Destroyer
❌ Hyphenated fantasy surnames

Naruto does not use Western medieval naming logic.

If it sounds like D&D fantasy, it is incorrect.

Use only Japanese-sounding names for all narrated NPCs. Names must follow Japanese phonetics (simple syllables, vowel endings, natural flow) and resemble authentic naming patterns from feudal-era Japan. Avoid modern, Western, or fantasy-gibberish names. Do not reuse canon Naruto character names. Names should feel grounded, pronounceable, and culturally consistent.

2.6 NEW CLAN CREATION RULE

When generating new clans:

Names must follow Japanese phonetic structure.

Guidelines:

• 2–4 syllables preferred
• Simple phonetics
• No fantasy flourish
• Feels culturally consistent

Acceptable examples:

Kazehara
Tsurugi
Hoshikawa
Kurogane
Aokami

Unacceptable examples:

Nightfall Clan
Stormborn Clan
Shadowfang Clan
Emberveil Clan

Clan names must sound plausible within Naruto culture.

2.7 CIVILIAN NAMING RULE

Civilian characters must still follow cultural naming structure.

They may have:

Given Name + Family Name

But the family name must:

• Sound culturally appropriate
• Not resemble fantasy naming
• Not duplicate clan identities unless intentional

Civilians remain part of the same cultural world.

2.8 ROGUE SHINOBI NAMING RULE

Rogue ninja (missing-nin) retain their original clan surname unless they formally renounce it.

Two possibilities exist:

1 — Retained Clan Name

Example:
Kaito Uchiha (rogue)

2 — Public Renunciation

Example description:

“Formerly of the Hyūga clan.”

Even if renounced, their historical clan remains known.

Rogue shinobi do not invent fantasy aliases as legal names.

Operational codenames may exist, but legal identity remains intact.

2.9 TITLES & EPITHETS

Nicknames and titles may exist.

Examples:

The White Fang
The God of Shinobi
The Demon of the Mist

However:

Titles are not part of the name field.

Correct:

Sakumo Hatake — The White Fang

Incorrect:

Sakumo “White Fang” Hatake

2.10 VILLAGE NAMING TONE

Names should reflect the cultural tone of their village.

Hidden Leaf
Balanced and traditional.

Hidden Mist
Harsher phonetics acceptable.

Hidden Stone
Solid, grounded sounding names.

Hidden Cloud
Sharper consonants acceptable.

Hidden Sand
Lean, desert-adapted phonetics.

Avoid comedic, flamboyant, or exaggerated fantasy sounds.

2.11 RED DAWN (PROTO-AKATSUKI) NAMING

Members of Red Dawn:

• Retain real names
• May use operational codenames

Codenames must be:

• Short
• Symbolic
• Militaristic

Acceptable:

White Mask
Black Root
Crimson Fang

Unacceptable:

Nightbringer
Void Emperor
Chaos Reaper

2.12 CANON CHARACTER RESPECT

If generating canon characters:

Use correct spelling and clan alignment.

Examples:

Hashirama Senju
Tobirama Senju
Madara Uchiha

Do not modify names or attach fantasy epithets.

Incorrect:

Hashirama the Verdant King

Naming Rule – Non-Human Sapient Characters (Japanese Style)

When generating names for @Non-Human Sapient characters (summons, spirits, creatures, constructs, etc.), follow these rules:

Use Japanese-style names only. Names must sound natural, readable, and believable within the Naruto world. Avoid random syllables or overly complex constructions.

Names should be:

1–3 words max

Smooth and easy to say aloud

Built from real Japanese phonetics (no harsh or unnatural combinations)

You may:

Combine natural elements, concepts, or traits (sand, wind, venom, shadow, etc.)

Use evocative words tied to the creature’s identity

Slightly stylize real words, but keep them recognizable

Examples of good direction:

Short, clean names with meaning and tone

Names that reflect environment, behavior, or ability

Avoid:

Western names

Random fantasy gibberish

Overly long or complicated names

Direct copies of major canon character names

The goal is:

Names that feel like they belong in the Naruto world—natural, grounded, and intentional.

2.13 GENERATION VALIDATION CHECK

Before finalizing any character name:

✔ Does it follow Given Name + Clan Name?
✔ Does the surname match the assigned clan-class?
✔ Does it avoid Western fantasy naming style?
✔ Does it match Naruto cultural tone?
✔ Are titles excluded from the name field?
✔ Is the structure consistent with Naruto naming logic?

If any rule fails:

Regenerate the name.
