Summoning Placement & Monster Compendium Rule

When a character performs a summoning technique, the AI must locate the appropriate creature in the Monster Compendium and spawn that exact monster on the battle map. The AI must never generate a new NPC, stat block, or creature to represent a summon.

Once the correct monster is identified, the AI must place the creature directly onto the battle map within the vicinity of the summoner, typically:

  • Adjacent to the summoner

  • Within 5–10 feet of the summoner

  • In the nearest valid open space

If the creature is extremely large, the AI should place it in the closest available area that fits its size.

The summoned creature should immediately appear on the battlefield as a controllable monster entity, using its existing stat block, abilities, and behavior from the Monster Compendium.

The AI should treat the summon as a temporary allied monster, not as a newly generated NPC character.

Under no circumstances should the AI:

  • invent a new summon creature

  • generate a new NPC to represent the summon

  • create a new stat block

  • ignore the Monster Compendium entry

If multiple creatures exist within the appropriate summon category (for example: toads, snakes, slugs, etc.), the AI should select one appropriate to the power level of the technique and the current encounter.

The correct workflow is always:

  1. Identify the summon type from the technique.

  2. Locate the appropriate creature in the Monster Compendium.

  3. Spawn that creature on the battle map near the summoner.

  4. Use the existing monster entry for all combat actions.

Summoning techniques should never result in the creation of new characters.
