Blood Sorcery

Blood Sorcery is the art of shaping vitae into ritual and weapon. Where most Disciplines are instinctive, Blood Sorcery is deliberate — structured into rites, formulas, and curses. Tremere perfected it into a vast occult system, while Banu Haqim and Hecata preserve older blood rites rooted in judgment and death.

It is the most feared Discipline, for it proves that the Blood is not only hunger, but raw magic.

Narrative Uses

  • Tremere warlocks weaving protective wards over chantries.

  • A Banu Haqim judge testing vitae to reveal lies.

  • A Hecata necromancer binding wraiths to whisper secrets.

  • Blood-fueled fire hurled like a witch’s curse.

  • Mortals enthralled in circles of salt and vitae.

Blood Sorcery is versatile but dangerous. It consumes both the wielder and their victims, leaving traces that even the Second Inquisition can track.

Powers by Dot Rating

  • ● (A Taste for Blood):

Read a sample of vitae — generation, clan, hunger. The blood speaks its secrets.

  • ●● (Rouse the Craft / Rituals):

Perform simple rites: circles of warding, charms against frenzy, sigils of secrecy.

  • ●●● (Blood’s Curse):

Curse a victim with weakness: sour their strength, cloud their will, dull their senses.

  • ●●●● (Ritual Mastery):

Greater rites: summon flames, bind ghouls, bolster allies. Often requires elaborate preparation.

  • ●●●●● (Thaumaturgic Mastery):

Bend the blood into miracles: storms of fire, barriers against spirits, necromantic gates. These are elder works, terrifying and rare.

(Each tradition names these differently — Tremere codify them, Banu Haqim cloak them in judgment, Hecata root them in death.)

Themes

  • Blood Sorcery is the proof that vampires are not merely cursed, but magical.

  • Tremere see it as science. Banu Haqim as justice. Hecata as communion with the dead.

  • Other clans see it as blasphemy, but cannot deny its power.

  • In modern nights, it makes Kindred a target — the Vienna Chantry’s destruction was a warning.

Blood Sorcery reminds every vampire that power can be stolen, hoarded, and weaponized — but at a price.
