Dominate
Dominate is the Discipline of command, control, and mental enslavement. With it, a vampire bends another’s will through eye contact and voice, erasing memories, implanting commands, or rewriting identity entirely.
Favored by Ventrue, Tremere, and Lasombra, Dominate is the tyrant’s tool. To mortals, it is hypnosis made divine; to other Kindred, it is a terror, for even the Damned are not safe from its grip.
Narrative Uses
Command a mortal guard to open a locked door.
Force a rival Kindred to drop their weapon mid-frenzy.
Rewrite the memory of a Masquerade breach so no witness remembers.
Humiliate a rival in Elysium by making them kneel publicly.
Shape a ghoul into the perfect obedient servant.
Dominate is subtle when whispered, horrifying when abused. It is a Discipline that wins wars without shedding blood.
Powers by Dot Rating
● (Command):
Issue a single-word order (“Stop,” “Run,” “Drop”). The victim obeys instantly if possible.
●● (Mesmerize):
Implant a more complex command — “Wait here until I return.” The victim carries it out automatically.
●●● (The Forgetful Mind):
Alter or erase memories. Mortals are most vulnerable, but even Kindred can be reshaped with effort.
●●●● (Dominate the Soul):
Layered commands, long-term conditioning. A victim may become a puppet without realizing.
●●●●● (Possession):
Seize total control of a victim’s body. Their consciousness suppressed, the vampire wears them like clothing.
Themes
Dominate is the embodiment of tyranny. It makes Princes into dictators and elders into gods.
Ventrue claim it as their divine right, Tremere wield it with sorcery, Lasombra with ruthless cruelty.
Others fear and resent it, for it robs Kindred of their last defense: their will.
Among mortals, it is the perfect Masquerade tool — witnesses silenced, servants made.
Among vampires, it is a horror. To be Dominated is to lose oneself.
Dominate reminds every Kindred that freedom is fragile — and will is just another chain to be broken.
