  • Rome: Ventrue and Toreador claim dominance in the Empire; Gangrel haunt its borders.

  • 476 CE: Fall of Rome; Kindred domains fracture into feudal courts.

The Dark Ages

  • ~1000 – 1400 CE: Kindred rule openly in many regions; princes and barons govern like mortal lords.

  • The Inquisition (1100s–1300s): Mortal faith rises against the Damned; thousands of Kindred burned.

  • The Burning Times: Vampires hunted across Europe; secrecy becomes vital.

The Renaissance & Revolt

  • 1400s–1500s: Rise of mortal science and humanism. Vampires tighten control.

  • 1400s: The Anarch Revolt — neonates rebel, diablerize sires, declare free cities.

  • 1493: The Convention of Thorns — truce. The Camarilla is founded to enforce the Masquerade. Some rebels remain: the Anarch Movement. The Sabbat emerges as militant zealots.

The Masquerade Age

  • 1500s–1800s: Camarilla dominance. Vampires live in secrecy.

  • 1600s–1700s: Colonization spreads Kindred to the New World. Princes rise in Europe and America.

  • 1800s: Industrialization; Nosferatu dominate sewers, Tremere expand chantries, Anarchs flare and fade.

The 20th Century

  • 1914–1945 (World Wars): Vampires exploit global chaos. Domains collapse, others thrive. Some elders fall in battle or vanish into torpor.

  • 1930s–1960s: The Anarch Free States emerge in California. Camarilla weakens in the Americas.

  • Late 1900s: Masquerade strained by media, surveillance, and thin-blood proliferation.

The 21st Century — The Second Inquisition

 

  • 2004: Operation FIRSTLIGHT launched — NATO’s anti-supernatural task force.

  • 2012: London’s Kindred court destroyed in coordinated raids.

  • 2018: Vienna Tremere Chantry obliterated by airstrike. Tremere Pyramid fractured.

  • 2010s–Present: Second Inquisition spreads globally.

    • NSA/CIA/MI5 track Kindred digitally.

    • Vatican’s Society of St. Leopold wages modern crusade.

  • Result: Camarilla retreats into paranoia. Anarchs surge into abandoned domains. Sabbat vanish eastward into Gehenna Crusades.

The Modern Nights

  • Camarilla rules fewer cities, with tighter secrecy.

  • Anarchs fracture but grow in numbers and boldness.

  • Sabbat are whispers, absent but feared.

  • Independents maneuver: Banu Haqim, Hecata, Lasombra defectors, Ministry tempters.

  • Thin-Bloods multiply, omen of weakening vitae — or Gehenna itself.
