Mortals and Such
The Herd
Mortals are prey. Every vampire must feed.
Some see mortals as cattle, others as art, others as family.
Feeding must be hidden to maintain the Masquerade.
Ghouls
Mortals fed vitae.
Gain strength, vitality, sometimes Disciplines.
Bound to their master by addiction and often by Blood Bond.
Serve as agents, spies, and shields in the daylight.
Thralls & Herds
Some vampires cultivate herds: mortals who willingly or unknowingly serve as regular donors.
Cults, clubs, fraternities, or families can be suborned into feeding farms.
Elders treat herds like treasure vaults.
The Masquerade & Mortals
Mortals must not know.
They are the greatest threat because of their numbers and firepower.
The Second Inquisition proves mortals cannot be dismissed as sheep.
Touchstones
Mortals are anchors for a vampire’s Humanity.
A child, a lover, a rival, a mentor — something to remind them what they were.
Losing a Touchstone drags a vampire closer to the Beast.
Mortals as Hunters
Not only SI: hunters have always existed.
From medieval witch-burners to modern conspiracy theorists, mortals have risen against the Damned.
Vampires fear mortals most when they are organized.
The Tragedy of Mortals
Every vampire begins as one.
Mortals remind them of the life they can never reclaim.
Some vampires cling to mortal connections; others slaughter them to silence the ache.
Either way, mortals define unlife by contrast.
