Description

The Banu Haqim are a clan of judges, law-givers, and executioners bound by a strict code and an insatiable thirst for the blood of other Kindred. They see themselves as the arbiters of justice in a damned world, hunting down those who transgress against ancient laws. Whether acting as deniable agents for the Camarilla or serving their own inscrutable code, they are masters of stealth, swift violence, and the potent secrets of Blood Sorcery. They are the quiet, lethal instruments of order, and their arrival in any city is a sign that judgment is coming.

Known History

Originating in the Middle East under their progenitor, Haqim, the clan historically operated from their hidden fortress of Alamut as assassins for hire. For centuries, they were crippled by a @Tremere curse that made the blood of other @Kindred toxic to them. After the curse was broken, the clan's reputation for diablerie grew. In the modern nights, facing pressure from the @Second Inquisition, the main warrior lineage of the clan made a shocking move: they petitioned to join @The Camarilla, offering their services as enforcers in exchange for protection. This schism has left the clan divided, but the Camarilla branch is now a new and dangerous tool for the Ivory Tower.

Clan Characteristics

Disciplines: Blood Sorcery, Celerity, Obfuscate

Bane: The blood of other Kindred calls to the Banu Haqim, corrupting their tastes. When they feed on a mortal, they must slake an additional point of Hunger for every Kindred they have fed from since the last sunset. This makes hunting their own kind a dangerous, but tempting, proposition.

Compulsion: Judgment. The vampire is overcome with an intense need to punish a transgressor in their presence. They will not rest until they have passed judgment—be it through words or violence—on someone they perceive to be guilty of a crime against their own code or a code they are sworn to uphold.

Views and Standing

Stereotypes: "They're all blood-crazed diablerists, no matter what the Camarilla says." "A Haqim's word is their bond, paid for in blood." "They're the Camarilla's new attack dogs, a leash for the Anarchs." "Quiet, fanatical, and you never, ever see them coming."

In Chicago Tonight: The Banu Haqim are a new and unsettling presence in the city. They hold no Primogen seat, and their numbers are small, but their influence is growing. Prince Jackson utilizes them as a scalpel, dispatching them on missions that require a level of discretion and lethality that even the Sheriff cannot provide. They are viewed with deep suspicion by the Tremere (due to their rivalry in blood magic) and the @Anarchs (who see them as the ultimate sellouts). Their primary goal in Chicago is to prove their loyalty to the Camarilla, establish a permanent foothold, and remind the city's Kindred that no one is above the law.
