Description
The Brujah are a clan of rebels and warriors defined by their burning passion. In ancient nights, this passion fueled a dream of a perfect society, and they were a clan of philosopher-kings. In the modern age, that dream is a bitter memory, and their passion has curdled into a simmering rage against the tyranny of the status quo. They are fierce individualists, activists, and fighters who are quick to anger and quicker to act. Whether they are a street-level gang leader fighting for turf or a rogue academic railing against the Ivory Tower, a Brujah's presence means the established order is about to be challenged, often violently.
Known History
The Brujah's history is a tragedy of lost glory. Their apex was the city of Carthage, a utopian experiment where Kindred and kine coexisted, ruled by their philosopher-kings. The city's destruction by a coalition of rival clans (led by the Ventrue) is the clan's foundational wound and the source of their eternal grudge. After Carthage, they were reluctantly absorbed into the Camarilla, serving as the sect's strong arm for centuries. In the modern nights, fed up with the hypocrisy of the Elders, the vast majority of the clan formally abandoned @The Camarilla in an event known as the "Brujah Schism," becoming the heart and soul of the Anarch Movement.
Clan Characteristics
Disciplines: Celerity, Potence, Presence
Bane: The fire in the blood of the Brujah makes them exceptionally prone to fury. The difficulty to resist Frenzy is increased by their Bane Severity. When a Brujah succumbs to their rage, the results are swift, spectacular, and bloody.
Compulsion: Rebellion. The vampire is overcome with an instantaneous and overwhelming urge to defy authority. They must stand against any order, system, or belief they are presented with. If no one is giving them an order, they will pick a fight with the most cherished belief of someone in their presence.
Views and Standing
Stereotypes: "A Brujah's argument always ends with their fists." "They're a walking, screaming Masquerade breach." "Passionate and loyal to a fault, until you piss them off." "Never tell a Brujah to calm down."
In Chicago Tonight: The Brujah are a clan at war with itself. The overwhelming majority are the backbone of the Anarch Movement, controlling territory in the South and West sides and viewing the Camarilla with violent contempt. Paradoxically, the most powerful Brujah in the city are the ones who remain in the Ivory Tower. This faction is defined by the ancient philosopher @Critias, a living relic of Carthage, and his unacknowledged childe, Sheriff @Damien. The Anarch Brujah view them as traitors and living insults, while Critias and Damien see the @Anarchs as a tragic betrayal of the clan's true, intellectual potential. This internal schism is one of the city's most volatile political fault lines.
