First Convention of Prague
The Night the Ivory Tower Cracked
In 2012, @The Camarilla called a global conclave in Prague to address the terrifying efficiency of the @Second Inquisition. It was meant to be a show of strength. Instead, it became the stage for a revolution. During this conclave, the Anarch representatives claimed the Camarilla meddling with the world's national governments created the Second Inquisition, while the Camarilla blamed the @Anarchs for their use of the Internet and other modern technology.
The @Brujah clan representatives led by Theo Bell revolted against the @Ventrue, launching a surprise attack and killing many of the sect's luminaries. Hardestadt himself was the first victim of the ambush, having his face blown clean off by a shotgun loaded with dragon's breath ammo in the opening seconds of the battle. After the incident, the Brujah declared they were departing for the Anarch Movement and left the Camarilla en masse.
While many in the Camarilla had long considered the Anarchs to be a part of their own sect in a way, that sentiment ended on this night. The Ventrue essentially declared war on the Anarchs.
The Legacy in Chicago: The news of the schism electrified the city. For Chicago's already-dominant Anarch Brujah, it was a global validation of their cause, emboldening them and intensifying their war against the Prince.
But for the few Brujah who remained, it was a moment of reckoning. The schism placed @Critias and Sheriff @Damien in an impossible position.
For Critias, it was a profound tragedy, the final, foolish act of a clan that had long ago abandoned the path of reason for the easy gratification of rage. His decision to remain was a sad necessity.
For Sheriff Damien, it painted a massive target on his back. Already an outcast, he was now a "tame Brujah" in a sect his clan had declared war on. This event solidified his loyalty to Prince Kevin Jackson, as the Prince's trust was now the only thing shielding him from the hatred of both his clan and his supposed allies. Their choice to remain has made them powerful, isolated figures—symbols of a lost ideal and lightning rods for the city's hatred.
