Fortitude
Fortitude
Nicknames: Resilience, The Stone's Embrace, The Unbreakable Will
Essence: The power of supernatural resilience, allowing a Kindred to harden their undead flesh and will to endure pain, injury, and even fire.
Description (In-World)
"The young ones mistake strength for power. A Brujah can shatter a wall with a single blow, but what of it? Walls can be rebuilt. True power lies not in the blow you can deliver, but in the blow you can endure and ignore. Fortitude is the quiet confidence of the stone. It is the feeling of a blade turning aside on your skin, of a bullet flattening against you like a raindrop. It is the ability to meet the gaze of the flames and not flinch. It is the ultimate expression of our nature: we are not living things that can be broken. We are eternal, and our flesh is but the first testament to that truth."
Levels of Mastery
Initiate: Your body becomes unnaturally tough. A punch that would break a mortal's jaw feels like a firm shove. You can shrug off wounds that would cripple others, your undead flesh knitting back together with startling speed. You are difficult to put down and even harder to keep down.
Adept: Your resilience is now truly supernatural. You can actively harden your form to become as immovable as a statue, and your skin can turn aside blades and even flatten bullets. Your mind becomes a fortress as well, granting you the inner strength to resist the mental commands of Dominate or the emotional manipulations of Presence.
Master: A master of Fortitude is an avatar of endurance. You can walk through a hail of gunfire as if it were a summer storm. You can endure the lick of the flames and, for a few precious, agonizing moments, even withstand the touch of the rising sun. Your body is no longer a vessel of flesh; it is a monument to your unyielding will.
Traditional Practitioners
Fortitude is the signature Discipline of the clans who are defined by their ability to survive and endure. It is an in-clan Discipline for the indomitable @Ventrue, the savage @Gangrel, and the morbidly persistent @Hecata.
