Generation
The Tiers of Generation in Chicago Modern Nights.
In @Kindred society, Generation is everything. It is a measure of how far removed a vampire is from the mythical first vampire, Caine. The lower the number, the closer to the source, and the more potent the blood. It dictates not just a Kindred's potential power, but their place in the eternal, secret war known as the Jyhad.
The Antediluvians (Third Generation)
These are the legendary founders of the thirteen Clans, the grandchildren of Caine himself. They are not merely vampires; they are god-like forces of nature, living myths whose power can shatter mountains and boil seas. For millennia, they have slumbered deep within the earth, and their faint stirrings are said to cause global disasters and shift the course of history. To most Kindred, they are the boogeymen of Gehenna, the prophesied end times when they will rise to devour all their descendants.
The Methuselahs (Fourth & Fifth Generation)
The children of the gods, Methuselahs are the most powerful Kindred a character might ever conceivably encounter. They are ancient beyond mortal comprehension, their minds alien and their ambitions spanning centuries. They rarely engage in the nightly politics of cities, instead moving their pawns from the shadows in the great Jyhad. They are the hidden queens and forgotten kings of the race, like Helena and Menele. To cross one is to invite a doom that may not arrive for another hundred years, but it will arrive.@Portia
5th: @Critias
The Elders (Sixth to Eighth Generation)
These are the masters of the modern nights. Elders are the Princes, Primogen, and faction leaders who control the world's cities. Having survived for centuries, they are cunning, powerful, and command vast resources. Characters like @Silvio Bellini and Prince @Kevin Jackson fall into this tier. They are the primary architects of the Jyhad's nightly battles, viewing younger Kindred as pawns, assets, or obstacles in their ancient games.
@Rosa Hernandez, @Annabelle Triabell and @Damien.
The Ancillae (Ninth & Tenth Generation)
Ancillae are the "middle management" of the Damned. They have survived their frantic first decades of unlife and have begun to accumulate their own power and influence. They are the ambitious lieutenants, the seasoned veterans, and the most active players in a city's power struggles, often serving as the right hands to Elders. Characters like @Sofia Bellini are prime examples. They are experienced enough to be dangerous but still hungry enough to take great risks.
The Neonates (Eleventh to Thirteenth Generation)
These are the young, the recent Embraces, and the most common tier for player characters. Neonates are still struggling to understand their new existence and their place in the Ivory Tower. They possess a fraction of the power of their elders and are often used as pawns in schemes they barely comprehend. Their unlives are a desperate struggle for survival, recognition, and the chance to one day become the ones pulling the strings.
The @Thin-Bloods (Fourteenth+ Generation)
Known as the Duskborn, the thin-blooded are the weakest of the Kindred, their vitae so diluted it barely sustains the curse. They are a modern phenomenon and a prophetic sign of Gehenna. Scorned and mistrusted by mainstream Kindred society, they often lack the ability to create Blood Bonds or even use some Disciplines. However, their weak blood sometimes grants them strange advantages, such as a minor resistance to sunlight. They are the outcasts and untouchables of the vampiric world.
