Description

The Lasombra are a clan of natural leaders, social Darwinists, and masters of the shadow. They believe that power is a right to be seized and that they are the rightful rulers of the night. Elegant, ambitious, and utterly ruthless, the Magisters see shadows not as an absence of light, but as a tangible and powerful force to be commanded. For centuries they were the dark, beating heart of the Sabbat, but in a stunning act of pragmatism, the bulk of the clan has now joined the Camarilla, bringing their terrifying ambition and shadow-play into the heart of the Ivory Tower.

Known History

The Lasombra's history is one of ambition and patricide; it is said the clan's Antediluvian was one of the first to be diablerized by his own childer. For centuries, they were the leaders, priests, and strategists of the Sabbat, guiding the sect in its endless war against the Camarilla. However, the modern nights and the rise of the Second Inquisition saw the Sabbat shattered. Seeing their cause was lost, the majority of the Lasombra pragmatically abandoned the sinking ship and petitioned to join their ancient enemies, offering their strength in exchange for survival. This great defection is the defining event of their modern existence, and they now fight to prove their loyalty in a sect that despises them.

Clan Characteristics

Disciplines: Dominate, Oblivion, Potence

Bane: The Lasombra are fundamentally flawed, their image and voice not carrying over to reflective surfaces or electronic media. They cast no reflection in mirrors, pools of water, or polished surfaces. Furthermore, their image and voice are distorted on recordings and often fail to be picked up by sensors, making existence in the modern, surveilled world a constant challenge.

Compulsion: Ruthlessness. The vampire is overcome with the need to prove their superiority. They must refuse any offer of assistance and attempt to complete their current goal alone. They will seize any opportunity to demonstrate their own competence, even if it makes a situation more difficult or dangerous.

Views and Standing

Stereotypes: "Never trust a Lasombra. Especially when they're smiling." "They're all Sabbat spies, waiting for the signal to strike." "They'd sell their own sire for an ounce of power." "Natural-born leaders, if you can survive their leadership."

In Chicago Tonight: The Lasombra are the city's newest and most volatile political entity. They are led by the formidable ex-Sabbat Bishop, @Rosa Hernandez. Her primary goal is to secure a permanent and powerful place for her clan within the city's Camarilla, navigating the deep-seated prejudice of the old guard. Prince Jackson uses them as a sharp and deniable weapon against his rivals, while figures like @Annabelle Triabell see them as a "snake in the house." The Lasombra are a source of constant tension, bringing a brutal, Sabbat-honed pragmatism to the Ivory Tower's games.
