Obfuscate
Obfuscate
Nicknames: The Cloak of Shadows, The Unseen Art, The Mask of a Thousand Faces
Essence: The supernatural ability to cloud the minds of others, allowing one to pass unseen and unheard, hiding in plain sight.
Description (In-World)
"The fools believe this is the power of invisibility. It is nothing so crude. You do not vanish from the world; you simply persuade the world to look away. When you invoke the Cloak of Shadows, you become a gap in the attention of others. Their eyes slide off you, their minds register you as a trick of the light, a coat rack, a shadow that has always been there. You are the forgotten face in the crowd, the silent step on the staircase. It is the ultimate tool of the spy and the secret-keeper, for what good are walls and guards when they refuse to see the threat standing right in front of them?"
Levels of Mastery
Initiate: You are a ghost in the making. You can melt into shadows, your form becoming indistinct and easily ignored as long as you remain still. You can muffle the sound of your own footsteps, moving with an eerie silence. You are not invisible, but you are beneath notice.
Adept: Your power is now a mobile cloak. You can remain hidden even while moving through a crowded room, the minds of onlookers instinctively editing you from their perception. You can extend this cloak to hide others, or even change your own appearance entirely, crafting a new face and form from nothing but shadow and suggestion.
Master: A master of Obfuscate is a true phantom. You can hide an entire coterie, making a group of armed Kindred appear as harmless janitors or paramedics. Your power is so complete that you can even deceive the unblinking eye of technology, your image vanishing from camera feeds or appearing as a momentary glitch. You can walk anywhere, be anyone, and see anything, a true ghost in the machine.
