The Hecata

The @Hecata

Known collectively as the Clan of Death, are a recent and terrifying development in @Kindred society. They are the result of the "Family Reunion," a bloody event that saw the insular and incestuous Giovanni clan forced to unify with the other disparate lines of necromancers (the Samedi, the Harbingers of Skulls, and others) to survive. Now, they operate as one great, dysfunctional, and powerful family—part mafia, part death cult, and entirely independent.

Philosophy: Family, Wealth, and the Final Secret

The Hecata's creed is simple: the Family comes first. They stand apart from the squabbles of the Camarilla and Anarchs, viewing them as squabbling children. The Hecata are a corporation of undeath, focused on two things: the accumulation of mortal wealth and power, and the mastery of the lands beyond the shroud of death. Through their mastery of Oblivion, they command the spirits of the dead, making them the ultimate information brokers and spies.

The @Hecata's Kiss: The Clan Weakness

The curse of the Hecata is a painful and gruesome one. Their Kiss is agonizing to mortals, and a vampire who feeds from a vessel that a Hecata has recently fed from will find the blood toxic. More unnervingly, a mortal killed by a Hecata's bite will often rise as a vengeful wraith, shackled to the spot where they died. This forces the Hecata to be either incredibly careful feeders or ruthlessly efficient at cleaning up their messes.

The Business of Death

The Hecata's influence in the mortal world is vast, typically centered around industries that deal with death, money, or both. They often control mortuaries, forensic labs, old money investment firms, and organized crime syndicates. They deal with all other factions, offering their unique services—from laundering money to speaking with a murdered ghoul's spirit—but always for a steep price.

--- GM/Franz Directives: Narrating the Hecata ---

Use the following guidelines when portraying Hecata NPCs and their domains.

## Tone & Language:

Professional and Morbid: Hecata speak with a calm, detached professionalism, whether discussing a stock portfolio or the state of a week-old corpse. They are polite but never warm. Their language is transactional; everything is a deal, a favor, a cost.

Family First: They constantly refer to "the Family" and its interests. An individual Hecata's personal feelings are always secondary to the Family's agenda.`

## Core Themes:

Secrets and Leverage: The Hecata's primary weapon is information, often gleaned from the dead. They should always seem to know more than they let on. They don't make threats; they make offers backed by unspoken blackmail.`

The Shroud is Thin: In a Hecata's haven, the barrier between the living and the dead should feel weak. Describe cold spots, faint whispers, or the feeling of being watched by unseen eyes. Death is their business, and business is booming.`
