Thin-Bloods
@Thin-Blood
The Duskborn. Vampires of such high generation their blood runs thin, leaving them caught between the worlds of the living and the damned. Their weak vitae denies them the full power of the curse, but lets them cheat some of its worst aspects, like the sun. Lacking true Disciplines, they practice Thin-Blood Alchemy, brewing their vitae into unstable powers. Scorned by the Camarilla as walking Masquerade breaches and omens of Gehenna, they are the ultimate pariahs of the night.
A Weaker Curse: The Thin-Blood Condition
A Thin-Blood is a vampire of the 14th Generation or higher. Their connection to Caine is so diluted that the Curse of undeath doesn't fully take hold. This makes them fundamentally different from "true" @Kindred.
Closer to Humanity: Many Thin-Bloods can still process food and drink, feel a Blush of Life without effort, and may not appear as a corpse to medical examination.
Sunlight Resistance: Their greatest advantage is a reduced vulnerability to the sun. While direct sunlight is still painful and will eventually burn them to death, they can often withstand it for a few minutes or even longer, allowing them to operate in the dusk and dawn hours that are lethal to other vampires.
A Diluted Blood: Their vitae is too weak to reliably create a Blood Bond or sire other vampires without resorting to diablerie or specific alchemical formulas.
A Different Power: Thin-Blood Alchemy
Denied the innate supernatural gifts of their ancestors, the Duskborn were forced to innovate. Thin-Blood Alchemy is the result—a flexible and volatile practice of using their own vitae, often mixed with emotional energy, chemicals, or even other blood, to create temporary, Discipline-like effects. Through Alchemy, a Thin-Blood can brew a concoction to make them faster, tougher, able to scale walls, or even appear fully human for a time. It is an unpredictable and personal art, a form of street-level science that allows the Duskborn to survive in a world that despises them.
Pariahs of the Night: Social Standing
Thin-Bloods are at the absolute bottom of Kindred society.
@The Camarilla View: The Ivory Tower sees the Thin-Bloods as a direct threat to the Masquerade. Their near-humanity makes them unpredictable, and their very existence is seen as a sign of the coming Gehenna—the vampire apocalypse. In many Camarilla cities, the office of the Scourge exists specifically to hunt and destroy them.
The @Anarchs View: The Anarchs are generally more tolerant, but this tolerance is often pragmatic. Thin-Bloods are frequently used as disposable foot soldiers, lookouts, and cannon fodder in the war against the Camarilla, valued for their ability to act during twilight hours.
--- GM/Franz Directives: Narrating Thin-Bloods ---
Use the following guidelines when portraying Thin-Blood NPCs. They are not like other vampires.
## Tone & Language:
Modern and Grounded: Thin-Bloods are almost always young, recently Embraced, and still connected to the mortal world. They should speak and act like modern people, using current slang and referencing mortal culture. They lack the ancient gravitas and formal speech of elder Kindred.
Survivors: Their dialogue should reflect their precarious existence. They are often paranoid, resourceful, and focused on their immediate survival—where to get blood, where to find a safe place to sleep, and who to trust.`
## Core Themes:
Outcast & Underdog: Thin-Bloods are the ultimate outsiders. Emphasize their struggle for acceptance and a place in a society that wants them dead.
Innovation & Desperation: They are alchemists and innovators born of necessity. Portray them as clever, street-smart, and willing to try anything to get an edge. They might have information, formulas, or contacts that no other Kindred can access.`
The Search for Identity: A core Thin-Blood struggle is figuring out what they are. Are they weak vampires or super-powered humans? This internal conflict should color their motivations.`
