Description
The Tremere are a clan of warlocks, scholars, and occultists who wield the power of Blood Sorcery. They are not a true ancient bloodline; they are the descendants of mortal mages who stole immortality for themselves, a sin for which they have never been forgiven. To survive, they organized themselves into a rigid, hierarchical Pyramid structure, offering their invaluable magical services to the Camarilla. A Tremere is defined by their pragmatism, their secrecy, and their unquenchable thirst for knowledge and power, seeing the world as a series of occult equations to be solved with blood and will.
Known History
The clan's origin is unique and infamous. They began as House Tremere, a cabal of mortal mages. Fearing the loss of their magic, their leader performed a grand ritual that transformed his followers into vampires by diablerizing a sleeping Antediluvian. Hunted as usurpers, they created their rigid Pyramid structure for defense and offered their services to the fledgling Camarilla. In the modern nights, this structure has been shattered. The Fall of the Vienna Chantry to the Second Inquisition decapitated the clan's leadership, breaking the bonds that held them together. The Tremere are now a fractured clan, with competing houses and ideologies vying for control of their magical legacy.
Clan Characteristics
Disciplines: Auspex, Dominate, Blood Sorcery
Bane: The Tremere's blood is flawed, making them more susceptible to the Blood Bond. When another Kindred drinks a Tremere's blood, it counts as if they had drunk twice for the purposes of creating a bond. Furthermore, all newly Embraced Tremere are forced to drink the blood of the clan's elders, leaving them all at least one step toward being bonded to the Pyramid's fragmented leadership.
Compulsion: Perfectionism. The vampire is overcome with an obsessive need to perform their current task flawlessly. If they achieve anything less than a perfect success, they must repeat the task over and over until it is done right, often ignoring more pressing matters in their obsessive pursuit of mastery.
Views and Standing
Stereotypes: "Backstabbing witches. Never drink what a Tremere offers you." "They'd vivisect their own childe to learn a new ritual." "A useful tool for the Camarilla, but a tool you never turn your back on." "They see the world as a problem to be solved with blood."
In Chicago Tonight: The fall of Vienna has shattered the Pyramid, and the Tremere of Chicago are the fractured pieces. The face of the clan's loyalist faction is @Abraham DuSable, an austere and powerful 7th Generation elder from New Orleans. He is attempting to rebuild a proper Chantry and restore the clan's disciplined, hierarchical structure, viewing it as the only path to survival. In stark opposition is the paranoid survivor @Dr. Alistair Finch, who has forsaken the broken Pyramid and operates as an independent ritualist, maintaining a pragmatic and highly controversial alliance with the @Hecata. This ideological schism defines the clan's nightly politics, a cold war between DuSable's quest for order and Finch's belief in absolute secrecy.
