appearance
Madame Mvashti is frail yet imposing, her deep-set eyes dark and piercing, filled with untold wisdom and quiet sorrow. She wears flowing Varisian robes, adorned with symbols of Desna and intricate embroidery depicting stars, butterflies, and mystical runes. Her long, silver-white hair is often wrapped in a colorful headscarf, and her wrinkled hands clutch either harrow cards or carved bones, which she uses for divination. Despite her age-bent frame, she walks with an uncanny sense of purpose, aided by a staff of gnarled wood gifted by visiting druids.
personality
Blunt & Mysterious – Speaks in cryptic warnings, rarely offering clear answers to questions.
Brooding & Cynical – The future concerns her greatly, as prophecies no longer align as they once did.
Respected Elder – Despite her harsh words and unsettling presence, she is a pillar of the Varisian community.
Loyal to Tradition – Despises the Sczarni and their criminal ways, favoring druids, scholars, and her people.
Stubborn & Defiant – Refuses to die, outliving even those who thought they'd inherit her house.
backstory
Madame Mvashti has always been old, at least in the eyes of Sandpoint’s residents. Even when the town was founded decades ago, she was already a revered seer, historian, and oracle among the Varisians. As part of the Sandpoint Mercantile League’s deal with local Varisians, she was given a manor house to live in until her death—except she has refused to die.
Her family lineage is filled with powerful diviners, and she has carried on that tradition with harrow card readings and bone divinations. However, the future is unclear, and prophecies no longer align, leaving her in a near-perpetual state of brooding concern.
Despite her reclusive nature, she is respected and cared for by the town’s Varisian community and visited weekly by druids, who assist her on the long walks she insists on taking. Her only daughter, Koya Mvashti, a devout cleric of Desna, tends to her needs—though Madame Mvashti resents the Sczarni, openly spitting and cursing at them when they dare approach.
