The people of Vibrantia Regni are aware that a magic system is in place in their world. They refer to this as the tier system so they may classify spells according to tiers. The Courtwizard of Inferraxis has made a simple and comprehensible list for people who wish to know how the tier system works. People who are capable of using tier 3 spells are already suitable for the role of court mage, anything that goes beyond tier 3 will be seen as magic used by heroes or natural forces of the world.
Tier 0:
Spells that can be cast without expending energy or mana. These spells are the backbone of every caster and are used by even the strongest of sorcerers or wisest of wizards in the lands. The Tier 0 spells are often versatile, used for defending oneself, used for utilitarian purposes or for entertainment.
Tier 1:
Often considered the weakest of the tiered spells. These spells form the basis of every caster together with the Tier 0 spells, only these are slightly stronger and more specialized than Tier 0 spells. These spells are just as versatile as the Tier 0 but do expend energy.
Tier 2:
Tier 2 spells is where combat spells slowly begin to start shining. In this tier combat related spells begin to manifest more profoundly, as the spells slowly begin to affect larger areas or multiple targets at once. Also enchantments and healing capabilities are significantly boosted upon reaching this tier.
Tier 3:
Tier 3 is seen as one of the maximum potentials that a common person can reach when it comes to magic. Tier 3 sport a variety of exceptionally strong combat spells but also highly viable utility spells, enchantments, illusions and many more. This tier is considered the minimum for becoming a court mage.
Tier 4:
Tier 4 spells are seen as spells that a caster should aspire to, it should be seen as an end goal, something to dedicate your life to. Reaching this tier puts the caster on par with hero status individuals. The spells itself are mostly utility and defensively focused, but the combat related spells are still highly effective.
Tier 5:
Tier 5 consists of a wide variety of utility, defensive and offensive spells, attainable by those who are deemed heroes.
Tier 6:
Tier 6 spells are seen as only attainable by World Heroes or above.
Tier 7:
Tier 7 spells are seen as only attainable by demi-gods or above.
Tier 8:
Tier 8 spells are seen as spells attainable only by the gods themselves. The spells that are connected with tier 8 are devastating and the appearance of a caster with the ability to cast this level of spells is recognized as a calamity that either needs to be dealt with, or needs to be appeased. Tier 8 spells are there for as worldwide level threats as a caster with this level of power can easily destroy nations if they wish to do so.
Tier 9:
Tier 9 spells are unknown to the world of Vibrantia Regni and are often considered as legends or myths. In the history of Vibrantia Regni 9th tier spells have been cast, but those who have seen these spells have either called them divine interventions, cataclysmic world events, transcended miracles or the cosmos interfering with the world.
