Myros Kappa

Planetary Data

  • Geography: Planet-wide warzones, characterized by deep trenches, vast bomb craters, active strip mining operations, and the colossal, rusting wreckage of fallen war machines.

  • Population: Estimated 9 Billion (Permanently mobilized military forces, entrenched civilian-military population, industrial and logistical cohorts).

  • Tithe Grade: Exactus Primus/Decimus (Manpower, Strategic Mineral Resources, Bulk Ordnance).

  • Government Type: Martial Governorship, under a Lord-General or Planetary Commander (Functionally a permanent military dictatorship).

  • Planetary Governor: Governor-General Khol Rexus (Nominally manages civilian affairs but primarily focuses on military logistics).

  • Adept Presence: High (Departmento Munitorum for endless resupply; Imperial Guard Command staff). Moderate (Adeptus Mechanicus for salvage and mining).

  • Military: Myros Kappa Permanent Garrison Regiments, Planetary Defence Force (PDF), and locally raised Imperial Guard levies.

  • Trade: Strategic Mineral Resources, salvaged military hardware, and ceaseless shipments of conscripted manpower.

"We clean the slate, cycle after cycle, yet the chalk dust of their filth always remains. We do not fight for victory here; we fight for the Emperor's attention, and the chance to bleed for one more day."

– Colonel Marus Krenn, Myros Kappa 4th Shock Trooper Battalion

Myros Kappa is a crucial but cursed world located deep within the Stygies Cluster Sub-Sector of the Askellon Sector. It is officially designated a War World—a classification it earns through relentless, unending conflict against the Orks. For generations, the Imperium has fought fiercely and ceaselessly to retain control of Myros Kappa, never once ceding defeat, despite the unparalleled scale of the alien invasions that routinely erupt upon its surface. The planet is fundamentally indispensable to the sector’s overall stability, as it occupies a strategically important Warp juncture which must be held to ensure reliable transit of materiel and troops across the region. Furthermore, the planet possesses substantial mineral resources, providing raw materials vital for the nearby Forge Worlds, such as the Adeptus Mechanicus strongholds of the Cluster.

The continuous state of total war means Myros Kappa is a low-tech, functional military camp on a planetary scale. Its environment is utterly hostile, scarred by immense battlefields where the air is perpetually fouled by propellant smoke, dust storms, and the corrosive fumes of salvaged chemical runoff. This world exists only to endure, its population hardened by continuous military necessity and viewed by external Imperial authorities as a reservoir of expendable military assets.

The Cycle of Eternal Conflict

The defining horror of Myros Kappa is the nature of its unending war against the Orks, who simply cannot be eradicated. The Imperium has deployed vast resources and suffered immense losses fighting the aliens, successfully cleaning the world of them countless times, only for the infestation to begin anew.

The Orks possess a unique method of reproduction, a secret known only to the highest echelons of Imperial command who attempt to manage the problem. When the Orks are ostensibly defeated, their residual spores or biological matter remain hidden, waiting for conditions to become suitable. Once a sufficient number of spores germinate, the entire cycle begins again. The first Orks spawned in this new wave are primitive beasts, ignorant of their ancestry and lacking the technological expertise of their predecessors.

However, the battlefield itself provides the means for their rapid evolution. The surface of Myros Kappa is perpetually strewn with the wreckage of thousands of years of conflict—fallen Imperial tanks, discarded lasguns, shattered armor plates, and defunct ordnance. The newly spawned, primitive Orks instinctively arm themselves for war with the weapons dropped by their forebears, transforming almost immediately into a viable military threat and allowing the destructive cycle to continue anew. This ensures that every victory is temporary, and the Imperium must maintain massive permanent garrisons to fight this constantly resurfacing enemy.

Strategic Infrastructure and Planetary Logistics

The importance of Myros Kappa far outweighs its low development level. As a major strategically important Warp juncture, the system is a vital intersection for naval transit. If the Orks managed to secure or even destabilize this juncture, the resulting logistical collapse could severely cripple Imperial supply lines across the Stygies Cluster and beyond.

The substantial mineral resources provide a crucial, secondary draw. Though the mining infrastructure is often temporary, constantly shifted or rebuilt due to the roving conflict, the steady stream of raw ore is essential for the production demands of the Mechanicus Forge Worlds nearby. This creates a highly complex, interconnected operational theatre: the Imperial Guard fights the Orks so that the mining operations can continue, and the mining operations provide the materials needed to arm and armor the Guardsmen.

The Departmento Munitorum maintains a terrifyingly efficient supply chain dedicated to ensuring the Myrosian garrison is constantly replenished with war materiel and men, managing the enormous logistical challenge of importing everything required while simultaneously fighting a persistent, full-scale ground war. The endless wreckage of lost Imperial war machines forms the grim scenery of the planet, but also necessitates the permanent deployment of salvage and recovery teams to prevent too much valuable, functional Imperial technology from falling into the hands of the evolving Ork hordes.

The Myrosian Defence and Its Warrior Culture

The inhabitants of Myros Kappa exist under a permanent martial law regime, led by a Governor-General whose sole purpose is sustaining the war effort. Given the planet’s nature as a constantly contested War World, the native Planetary Defence Force (PDF) is less a police force and more a standing army, known for its brutal pragmatism and high casualty acceptance rates.

  • Manpower Tithes: Despite the constant internal conflicts, Myros Kappa is likely subject to continuous manpower levies. The citizens, born into a world of trench warfare and perpetual alert, make for hardened, though often psychologically scarred, recruits. These conscripts, often designated as Shock Troopers or Heavy Infantry, are expected to fight where the losses are highest and the ground is most contaminated by Ork filth.

  • Military Specialization: The Myrosian military focuses heavily on armored assaults and specialized counter-insurgency tactics tailored for the brutal, cratered surface and the ever-shifting locations of the Ork settlements. Heavy use of artillery and long-range fire is essential for clearing newly sprouted Ork enclaves before they can gather enough salvaged technology to become fully operational Waaagh! forces. The local military commanders understand that the survival of the planet depends on immediately destroying any sign of Ork activity, lest the primitive scavengers find enough wreckage to quickly evolve from simple brutes into weapon-wielding Boyz, continuing the grim cycle of the Eternal Waaagh!
