What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

The Lower City forms the heart of Baldur’s Gate’s commerce and daily life, a dense warren of trade, labor, and noise. Cut by steep hills and twisting alleys, it links the harbor to the city’s gates, channeling traffic, coin, and conflict. Shopkeepers, sailors, craftsmen, and guilds operate in tight quarters beneath a tangle of rooftops. Crime exists in the seams, managed more than eradicated, with the Flaming Fist enforcing order with inconsistent zeal. Life here is fast, crowded, and survival-minded.

Appearance

Stone and timber buildings lean into narrow streets, their upper floors crowding the sky. Banners hang above market stalls packed with goods and shouting vendors. Sloped roads wind between districts, stained with mud and traffic. Smoke rises from chimneys and forge vents. The harbor glints at the edge of sight, ships silhouetted against the water. Lanterns swing from iron hooks, struggling against the gloom cast by overhanging eaves and rising mist.
