What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

Heapside is a dense, working-class quarter of the Outer City, known for its warehouses, secondhand markets, and constant noise. Positioned near key trade routes, it absorbs the overflow of commerce from the city's gates—offering storage, cheap labor, and quick deals. Locals are blunt, resourceful, and used to being overlooked. It’s a place where goods are moved fast, questions are few, and coin speaks louder than law.

Appearance

Rows of stone and timber buildings crowd the streets. Makeshift stalls spill into alleys, covered in canvas or nailed-together scrap. Wagons creak over ruts between open storehouses. Workers haul crates, argue over weights, and rest on overturned barrels. Signs hang crooked above shuttered shops, and laundry flaps from windows overhead. Smoke drifts from cookfires, mixing with dust and the smell of sweat, grain, and iron. The city walls loom in the background, indifferent to the churn below.
