What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. Description

The Wide is Baldur’s Gate’s grand open market, a vast paved plaza within the Upper City where licensed vendors sell everything from exotic imports to fine crafts. It operates under the watchful eye of city officials and enforces strict permits, keeping undesired trade and lower-class crowds at bay. Wealth flows here in plain view, guarded by regulation and tradition. Deals are public, prices steep, and reputations built or broken in the span of a sale.

Appearance

Smooth stone pavers stretch beneath rows of merchant stalls arranged in ordered grids. Elegant awnings of silk and canvas shade displays of jewelry, rare spices, tomes, and art. Well-dressed patrons stroll between stalls, flanked by guards or servants. Decorative fountains and sculpted pillars frame the plaza. Civic banners hang high, fluttering above manicured greenery. The air smells of perfume, parchment, and polished coin. Everything is clean, deliberate, and observed.
