Fables in the Forgotten Realms

T
Tome64

The Forgotten Realms brought to life! Designed for narrative-rich experiences in the Forgotten Realms setting of Faerun's Sword Coast. While the main focus of the world is Waterdeep, locations throughout the Sword Coast and outer planes are available as well! Including Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, The Moonsea, The Outerplanes, and more! What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Author's Note: Welcome to The Forgotten Realms Step into one of the most iconic and richly storied worlds in Tabletop, The Forgotten Realms! Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. This is not a replacement for a traditional tabletop game—it’s a love letter to it. Dedicated to anyone who struggles to find a group and is itching to play. If you enjoy what’s inside, consider supporting the official Dungeons & Dragons books. They remain an invaluable resource for players and storytellers alike—and they make excellent collectibles. Description

The Great Wheel cosmology is the foundational structure of existence, a metaphysical map that organizes the planes around core philosophical truths. At its center lies the Material Plane, cradled by the Ethereal and Shadow Planes, while the Inner Planes spiral inward—Air, Earth, Fire, and Water, sources of elemental substance. Beyond them extends the Astral Plane, a silver void bridging to the Outer Planes—realms shaped by belief and moral alignment. These include the celestial peaks of Mount Celestia, the infernal layers of the Nine Hells, and the chaos-strewn depths of Limbo, among others. The Outer Planes form a vast wheel, each a divine domain inhabited by gods, celestials, fiends, and dead souls judged by their moral weight. The Great Wheel is not merely a structure, but a reflection of cosmic law, spiritual destiny, and the endless tension between order, chaos, good, and evil. All mortal paths eventually touch its spokes, in life or in death.

Appearance

An immense, luminous wheel spins in the void, its hub the Prime Material Plane, surrounded by glowing rings of elemental energy and bridged by shimmering threads of Astral light. Beyond, vast realms unfold—celestial mountains, burning pits, endless seas, twisted mazes—each a world unto itself, drifting along the wheel’s rim. The wheel turns without motion, ageless and silent, yet alive with divine will and mortal consequence. It is order shaped by belief, and chaos barely contained.
