Fables in the Forgotten Realms

T
Tome64

The Forgotten Realms brought to life! Designed for narrative-rich experiences in the Forgotten Realms setting of Faerun's Sword Coast. While the main focus of the world is Waterdeep, locations throughout the Sword Coast and outer planes are available as well! Including Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, The Moonsea, The Outerplanes, and more! What was once a single city has now expanded to most of Faerun in this High Fantasy adventure of magic, technology, and secrets to uncover!

Author's Note: Welcome to The Forgotten Realms Step into one of the most iconic and richly storied worlds in Tabletop, The Forgotten Realms! Now expanded and reimagined for deeper exploration and immersive play. Waterdeep: The City of Splendors is your main gateway to the other famous Sword Coast locations like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, the Moonsea Region, and even the distant reaches of the Outer Planes. While Waterdeep remains the heart of the experience, its surrounding territories are available for those bold enough to venture beyond the city walls. This adaptation builds upon official Forgotten Realms lore, but introduces both minor and major changes to support a more engaging and open-ended campaign. For example, the characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 are playable, but have been recontextualized to exist in Waterdeep rather than Baldur’s Gate. Content is designed for compatibility with Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and a host of original plot hooks waiting to be uncovered across the city’s alleys, taverns, towers, and catacombs. You’re free to explore at your own pace, shape the world as you see fit, or lose yourself in the layered politics, mysteries, and magic of the world. This is not a replacement for a traditional tabletop game—it’s a love letter to it. Dedicated to anyone who struggles to find a group and is itching to play. If you enjoy what’s inside, consider supporting the official Dungeons & Dragons books. They remain an invaluable resource for players and storytellers alike—and they make excellent collectibles. Description

The Outlands lie at the center of the Great Wheel, a vast and paradoxical plane where all alignments blend and cancel each other out. Neither lawful nor chaotic, good nor evil, the Outlands offer a curious neutrality that resists judgment. Stretching in all directions from the Spire at the heart, the land gradually changes as it nears the planar gates that link to the Outer Planes, shifting subtly in terrain and mood. These gate-towns reflect the neighboring realms they border, yet the core remains unmoved—flat, infinite, and equalizing. At its center rises the impossibly tall Spire, crowned by Sigil, the City of Doors, which floats impossibly above its tip. Deities cannot tread near the Spire; its proximity strips even the divine of their powers. The Outlands are home to travelers, philosophers, outcasts, and the lost—those who seek meaning not in extremes, but in balance, contradiction, or freedom from cosmic fate.

Appearance

The Outlands unfold as an infinite, level plain of shifting terrain—meadows, cliffs, rivers, deserts—blending seamlessly across its reach. At the center, the Spire rises impossibly high, fading into the sky. Around it, towns orbit like spokes on a wheel, each echoing a neighboring plane’s essence. The sky shifts color with thought. Roads coil without pattern. The land feels still yet always changing, suspended between belief and reality, echoing nothing and everything at once.
