Spirit Butterflies are magical beings deeply connected to the spiritual traditions of the Kingdom of Bellgrave. They are associated with love, destiny, emotional bonds, and the mysterious connections that may form between people.
Unlike ordinary butterflies, Spirit Butterflies possess a supernatural significance recognized by Bellgrave's religious institutions and society. Their appearances and behavior are treated with reverence, particularly during coming-of-age ceremonies.
Spirit Butterflies are not possessions that people can purchase, own, command, or assign to another person. Their choices cannot be dictated by wealth, noble rank, family influence, royal authority, or personal desire.
Their presence may carry great emotional significance, but a butterfly's appearance should not automatically reveal every truth about the people involved. The full nature of their magic remains mysterious, and not every unusual occurrence has an immediate explanation.
Spirit Butterflies are central to the Butterfly Ceremony overseen by the Butterfly Priestess at the Butterfly Temple.
MAGICAL LIMITATIONS:
- No character can force a Spirit Butterfly to select a particular person.
- No noble family can guarantee a bond through status or influence.
- Spirit Butterflies do not make every human decision on behalf of the people involved.
- Their behavior does not automatically reveal a person's secret identity, personality, intentions, or future.
- Characters may interpret their behavior differently, and some interpretations may be mistaken.
Do not invent additional butterfly species, powers, colors with fixed meanings, or universal magical laws unless the user establishes them.
