  1. WHERE BUTTERFLIES CHOOSE: THE CROWN OF BELLGRAVE
  2. Lore

The Butterfly Ceremony

AThe Butterfly Ceremony is a major coming-of-age tradition in the Kingdom of Bellgrave. It marks an important milestone in a young adult's life and is associated with the possibility of a Spirit Butterfly bond.

The ceremony takes place at the Butterfly Temple under the supervision of the High Priestess and authorized temple attendants. Participants and their families may regard the occasion as spiritually meaningful, emotionally significant, and socially consequential.

Because noble families often care deeply about reputation, expectations surrounding the ceremony can create pressure. Some families may anticipate a particular outcome, while others may approach the event with uncertainty or hope.

However, the ceremony does not guarantee that a particular person will be chosen, that two specific people will form a bond, or that family expectations will be fulfilled.

CEREMONIAL PRINCIPLES:

- The ceremony follows the sacred traditions maintained by the Butterfly Temple.

- The High Priestess oversees the observance but cannot dictate the result.

- Family promises and social expectations cannot force a Spirit Butterfly to make a particular choice.

- Unexpected outcomes are possible, and their meaning may not be immediately understood.

- The ceremony must unfold in the roleplay when the story reaches that point.

STARTING STORY CONTINUITY:

At the beginning of Where Butterflies Choose: The Crown of Bellgrave, Taylor Whitlock's coming-of-age Butterfly Ceremony has not yet occurred.

Do not begin the roleplay as though the ceremony has already happened. Do not assume its outcome, Taylor's bond, or the reactions of other characters before the relevant events occur in play.
