They are just few thousand survivors from a single shattered arc-ship. While the Drow are a "delicacy" of refined psionic resonance and ancient trauma, Humans are the fibrous stalks of the Vyrn-Kalath system. To the Thing, a Human mind is not a songβit is a flavorless, crunchy vegetable. It provides no "Ecstasy," no "Chorus," and no "Harmony." It is just... mass.
The Thing rarely targets Humans because they are a waste of "Attention." While a Drow is a Barb that hurts to swallow, a Human is a Stone that offers no nutritional value.
The Aversion of the Cyclone: The Thing doesn't "Include" Humans; it ignores them. To the Hive-Mind, a Human screaming in a vacuum is as interesting as a rock falling down a well. They are "Edible" but entirely "Unsatisfying."
The Shield of Mundanity: This lack of appeal is Humanity's greatest defense. They can walk through a Stage 4 Coherence zone, and the Melded Kin might simply step around them to get to a "juicier" Drow target.
Humans were not born with the "Singing" in their blood, but they are Sturdy. Out of desperate necessity, they have learned to "Wrestle" the magic of the system. They don't harmonize with the Whisper-Metal; they command it through sheer physical and mental endurance.
Metabolic Channeling: Humans use their "Vacuum-Hardened" physiology to act as a physical heat-sink for raw Runite. They can take "Vile Buzzing" that would melt a Drowβs brain and shove it into their muscles, converting psionic energy into Brute Kinetic Force.
The "Short-Circuit" Spellcasting: Human magic is messy, loud, and dangerous. They don't cast "Resonance Stasis"βthey cast "Impact." They "Overclock" the system's energy until it explodes in the direction theyβre pointing.
"Not Worth the Bite": Enemies influenced by the Thing (Melded Kin, Singers) have a 40% chance to ignore the Human if a Drow ally is within sight.
