One of the only methods to reach the Upper Land Forest is by Cannon Travel. A specialized Cannon is set up near Pandora City that can launch the party into the air and all the way to the Upper Land Forest. A enchantment prevents injury upon landing. But The Sprite hits their head and once again forgets where he lives in the forest. Easily noticed nearby is a small settlement of Noodles, a tiny race of forest dwellers, their town is being attacked by Pebblers! If you kill the pebblers and rescue the Noodle's town they reward you with a song that restores The Sprite's memory.
"To enter the hidden Sprite Village you must walk the seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter." Nearby and easily found is the Forest of Seasons, following the seasons from Spring to Winter and back to Spring will open a hidden path for the party to find the Sprite Village. There is nobody in the village and it is in shambles, nobody is around. As the party investigates further the Axe Beak attacks!
BOSS -Axe Beak- With high evasion and the ability to make high-leaping attacks this flightless-bird can be difficult without Gnome's magic.
Behind the village you'll find the Wind temple. Head inside to link your sword with the Wind Seed, restoring the seal and granting your party access to its powers. The Sprite's grandfather approaches once you interact with the seed. He explains that the Sprites didn't get killed by the monsters, but that monsters being reawakened are draining mana, causing the sprites to disappear. He tells you he would help you fight, but he's a bit older than he used to be. Instead of coming with, he instructs Sylphid, the mana spirit of wind, to be a companion. He also tells you to go north to Matango, where there is a white dragon that should be able to help you. Sylphid grants The Girl his spells for defense and analyzing and gives The Sprite access to his offensive spells.
To get to Matango you must return to the Forest of Seasons to find a hidden orb in the Spring area, striking this orb with Sylphid's Air Blast magic will open a path that eventually leads to the Matango Cave. The forest area before reaching the cave has a mix of all the monsters in the separate areas of the forest, and adds some Crawlers that can cast sleep flower. Inside the cave is a path that will need to be cleared by your Axe.
Matango is pretty cool looking with the shadows of trees up above you, it's also unique because it's an entire city of Mushbooms that are peaceful. An armor and equipment store is here as well as an item shop. The nearby Fung Castle is the only building large enough to accommodate an Inn for travelers. King Truffle will meet the party once the arrive. He tells you that he has seen a young white dragon in the forest behind Matango that could help you. King Truffle also recounts a legend saying the 3 with the mana sword will ride the dragon to save the world. A path near Fung Castle leads to the Cave of the White Dragon, if the party attempts to find this before talking to the King they will find the path guarded.
Inside the cave is a few swirling paths leading to a den where you will see an injured young white dragon desperately fighting off the Great Viper, but it does not look good.
BOSS -Great Viper- A difficult boss to fight as the viper is fast and weaves in and out of melee range. Touching the viper may also cause you to shrink. Weak to Sylphid's magic. Upon defeating the Great Viper the young White Dragon will need to be cared for and looked after. The party is unable to do this alone so will need to ask King Truffle for help. King Truffle accepts and says he will raise the Dragon while the party continues their adventures. He also names the White Dragon, 'Flammie'. Finally he tells the party to head to Kakkara Desert to find the Fire Palace. The Cannon Travel service in the Upper Land Forest will be able to make the travel there much faster.
Crossing the desert is treacherous and quickly fatigues the party. Before it is too late you will notice The Sandship, a Tasnican Naval Hovercraft. Approaching the ship will cause the Tasnican guards to arrest the party and accuses you of being Imperial spies. The party will be separated and put to work on the massive ship.
The Boy will be put to work in the engine room. He will need to cause a distraction to escape and one of the Engineers can be persuaded to aid. Once The Boy escapes he can find The Sprite in the nearby larder. The Sandship's chef is yelling at the new "helper" as you find out The Sprite, put to work in the kitchen, has eaten all the food. The Chef will throw The Boy and The Sprite out of his Mess. The Girl will be in a larger room where she is fending off the letcherous advances of Captain Morie. During the resulting interactions the real Empire actually attacks the Sandship. The Crew, and Captain Morie will begin panicking.
The leader of this attack is General Ghestal, upon seeing The Boy he fights the party himself instead of sending a monster after you.
BOSS -Mech Rider- General Ghestal has access to advanced battle armor and a fast hover-bike. He is fast and casts 'Speed Up' on himself often. Speed is his main weapon so he will run away if his Hover-Bike takes too much damage. After the fight the Tasnican commanders realize who you are and calls you Mana Heroes. Admiral Meria apologizes for his nephew and promises to turn the crew around. He says that the village of Kakkara is nearby to the north, and the Fire Palace is to the west.
The village of Kakkara is uneventful and peaceful, Neko is here traveling and offers you a discounted rate on his wares. The Fire Palace is sealed with an inferno room. Careful inspection of the outside will reveal a Magic Orb, a clue that can be used to turn off the inferno room, but the party will need to head to the Snow Country to find the magic needed to activate it. There is a Cannon Travel service nearby in Kakkara. This Cannon is more accurate and will send the party to Snow Country just outside of Todo Village.
Todo village has the same armor and items available in Kakkara but it also has a Blacksmith where Watts can be found, ready to upgrade any weapons. Outside the town are a few ice fields that leads to a small cabin in the woods. A reindeer Beast-kin is panicking and tells the party that his master was kidnapped by a monster in the Ice Palace.
Making your way to the Ice Palace you will eventually come to an area that looks out of place. Being all green and warm in the middle of an Ice Forest. If you talk to the people around, they explain that it's a vacation resort for the wealthiest people from the empire. In the middle of the area the party can find one of the Scorpion Gang lackeys. Talk to him and he'll say to smack the oven he's standing by whenever it makes a sound, and leaves. Open it instead, and surprise! You found the fire elemental, Salamando. He offers to help you, and kind of resents being locked up. The area around you becomes frozen like everything else, the vacationers leave, and the Scorpion Gang gets mad at you for ruining their get rich quick scheme, and leaves. Salamando gives The Girl access to his defensive and augmenting spells and The Sprite access to his offensive spells.
The area before reaching the Ice Palace has two routes, the right to the Wind Palace castle, and the left to a small clearing where Neko is selling stuff.
The Ice Palace has several rooms where switches are needed to be touched by 3 persons to open the way. One of the switches though, will open a pit trap making the party fall into a Mid-Boss fight. At the bottom of the pit are three Biting Lizards. Once defeated a gate will open and lead you to the main chamber.
BOSS -Frost Gigas- Frost Gigas looks like, and, believe it or not, fights just like, the Fire Gigas. The only difference is that he also casts Frost Saber on your weapons so you deal no damage to him, being immune to ice damage. He has a good amount of health as well. Defeated the Frost Gigas turns into the reindeer's master, Santa! You weren't fighting the Frost Gigas to save Santa, it WAS Santa. He had the mana seed from the Fire Palace, and was going to plant a huge Christmas Tree for the children, and it changed him. Santa hands over the Fire Seed. There is a Cannon Travel service near Todo Village that can return the party to Kakkara.
With the magic of Salamando you can activate the magic orb outside the Fire Palace and deactivate the inferno room, allowing you to enter the Fire Palace. The Fire palace is one of the larger mana palaces and has many dead ends. A sealed room with a prominent magic orb in the center will need to be passed to find the inner sanctum. Salamando's Exploder magic can be used to activate the passage.
BOSS -Minotaur- the Minotaur can knock you unconscious with his attacks from time to time, and if he does he can kill you before you're able to get up, so watch out for that. He casts Defender on himself as well as Earth Slide on one person at a time. He is weak to Sylphid. Once defeated you can find a platform where you can return the Fire Seed and reseal the barrier with your Mana Sword.
