07 The Mana Fortress

The Mana Fortress is high in the sky and orbits the world with a menacing presence. Flammie can bring the party to the Fortress but must land quickly afterward as the Mana Fortress is draining mana and the dragons are mana based creatures. The small platform nearest the entrance is suitable for the party to land but it is guarded by sentry lasers. As a last attempt to help the party Flammie destroys most of the lasers with their breath-laser. It fatigues her visibly as she descends to rest. Leaving the party to deal with the remaining sentry and gain access to the Mana Fortress.

All monsters within the Mana Fortress cast magic, they also do not have high physical defenses. The Mana Knight with the Mana Heroes are particularly suited to dispatch the foes native and generating within the Mana Fortress with stolen Mana.

The first area within the party must navigate platforms above an unseen pit, the must cross to find another way within the fortress. Out of the three platform paths; one leads to a gap where the party must cross with the Whip, the other two paths lead to floor switches that teleport the party to the entrance if stepped on.

The second area within the Mana Fortress is a thick Crystal-Farm, for an unknown reason these crystals grow and protrude from almost every surface of this vast room. The Axe weapon can crush these crystals with some effort to clear a path. A secret panel must be found and activated in this room to open the path to a corridor. The corridor leads to a small room with a hidden sentry waiting for trespassers.

BOSS -Buffy- A supreme Vampire. A particularly vicious vampire who prefers to use it's flight to slam down knocking nearby targets down, then using vicious claw attacks, or she will just begin to bite, grasp, and feed. Once significantly injured or cornered Buffy will cast a desperation spell 'Dark Force'.

The area beyond is a maze-like area of freight and machines. Although there are many paths to take in this area, it is ultimately a large room and all paths lead to the same area and there are no dead ends. The end of the room is a door that opens to a security pit, the party must use the Whip to cross and find the entrance to an even more open room.

BOSS -Dread Slime- The Dread Slime is a small slime that moves quickly, immune to most weapons(unless hit with a critical) and weak to Shade's magic. It grows slightly larger when taking damage, and it also moves slower. Winning this battle means making the Dread Slime almost as large as the room you are in, once it grows to this size it turns solid and petrifies itself. Letting the Party move on to the next area.

After this area it is easier to navigate the Fortress and the path is rather direct to the control room. Although it is heavily guarded by the Empire's troops, now augmented and controled by Thanatos' dark magic and manipulation of mana with the Fortress. Master Ninja and Terminators guard the way to the control room.

Control Room - Mana Fortress- BOSS - Dark Lich Thanatos- Thanatos betrayed his emperor and ursurped the throne by taking control of the Mana Fortress. Now infused with manipulated mana Dark Lich Thanatos is tapped into powers un bound. His evil eyes can shoot petrify beams, leaden beam(which slows targets hit), and freeze beams. His casting level is Three and casts Evil Gate and Dark Force.

Defeating Dark Lich Thanatos and the Mana Fortress begins to lose control and Mana begins to loose wildly. Dryad's ultimate spells are unlocked for both The Girl and The Sprite, When both these spells are cast on the Mana Knight, wielder of the Mana Sword, The power of the Mana Sword is infused with the power to defeat the Mana Beast and save the world. The Sprite feels that mana is being drained from this world, "Everything will perish. Trees...animals...PEOPLE! That must not happen! Boy, take the sword!" Flammie bursts into the Control Room then...

BOSS -Flammie's Corruption; The Mana Beast- The stories and legends of the Mana Knight return and repeat. The Mana Fortress' presence has made mana unstable, so the gods sent a creature to destroy the fortress and the world with it! Flammie has returned only to be infused with pure mana, the power transforming the peaceful White Dragon into the Mana Beast, the End-Bringer. The beast attacks are devastating, but something is wrong, a glimmer in the eyes shadows an inner turmoil. The Mana Beast does not attack every round, It frequently decides to fly into the air before attacking ever few rounds. Weak to the Mana Sword, but only when it has both 'Mana Sword Atk', and 'Mana Sword Mag' cast on it. It can take triple damage from a Critical from a "Fully Powered" Mana Sword.

As The Mana Beast nears defeat, Flammie uses a desperate dive to destroy the Mana Fortress. The party panics to survive the falling fortress but the saving throws should be fairly easy as The Sprite uses the last of their magic to aid The Boy and The Girl to safety. With the defeat of the Mana Beast and the destruction of the Mana Fortress the last traces of mana have vanished from the world, and with it the last sprite as well...
